There may be opportunities to attend fundraising events/initiatives which may take place outside of regular business hours. <br /><br />Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.<br /><br /><strong>Compensation:</strong><br /><br />The Marketing &amp; Communications Intern will help enable the growth of Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) Foundation to drive revenue and maximize public awareness and exposure through optimizing and growing the Foundation&rsquo;s traditional and digital strategies as part of the overall Marketing &amp; Communication plan.<br /><br />This role is a paid, 8-10 month internship for rising undergraduate students that are interested in working in marketing, public relations and fundraising.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Maintain content calendars and conduct research for online engagement opportunities</li> <li>Social media monitoring and assisting with analysis reports</li> <li>Conducting and assisting with grateful patient/donor or department interviews</li> <li>Writing communication pieces such as media advisories/releases, briefs, web/digital content and other items as required</li> <li>Media relations monitoring and list management</li> <li>Aide in the preparation of promotional material, presentations, leave behinds and handouts</li> <li>Support business development including research, coordinating meetings, drafting emails</li> <li>Assist with photography/videography shoots</li> <li>Cultivate strong working relationship with both internal (Foundation and Hospital) and external (donors, grateful patients, vendors, media) relationships</li> <li>Other tasks as required</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Currently enrolled in a post secondary program or a recent graduate with focus in Marketing, Public Relations, Fundraising Journalism, Political Science, Sociology, Media Studies</li> <li>Previous office/clerical experience, preferably in a non-profit or Marketing/Public Relations department</li> <li>Proficient computer skills using MS Office and social media</li> <li>Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva</li> <li>Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard</li> <li>Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p> <p>Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario&rsquo;s leading community healthcare organizations.&nbsp;Across our two sites (Markham and Uxbridge) and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC), we provide high quality, patient-centred care to more than 468,000 patients each year.
