Our unit receives largely medical/surgical cases and is composed of both level 2 and level 3 critical care areas. We are supported by Critical Ontario, allowing us to accept life or limb patients. We also have a critical care response team (CCRT) designed to provide care to the most acute and complex patients throughout the hospital, reduce readmissions and contribute to the learning of our care partners in other clinical areas. The scope of practice in the CCU recently expanded to include sustained low efficiency dialysis (SLED), allowing our patients to receive even more comprehensive treatments at the right place, with the right team, at the right time. Consistent with our hospital&rsquo;s history of evolving to meet the needs of our growing community, our CCU, along with only a handful other institutions, is privileged to receive reinvestment funding, allowing our unit to expand from 15 to 20 beds. This reinvestment funding will also reconfigure our CCRT, so that it will be physician led, making it at par with leading CCRT models in other organizations throughout the industry.</p> <p>As the team continues to grow, there are many development opportunities for its members.&nbsp;The successful candidate, upon completion of the course, will practice in an environment that upholds excellence in professional practice and customer service. You will develop, implement and evaluate care plans. Using your clinical expertise and in collaboration with the inter-professional team, you will be responsible for delivering excellent care that is holistic and patient/family centered.</p> <br /><br /> <p><strong>Work schedule:</strong></p> <p>Upon completion of the critical care course the successful candidates will be required to work 12-hour&nbsp;days and nights, including weekends and stat holidays. &nbsp;</p> <p>The priority in assignments will be in the Emergency, Telemetry,&nbsp;ICU, and Stepdown departments. Responsibilities: As a Registered Nurse, you will become an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team (IDHCT) responsible for the comprehensive care of patients through the Resource Team Critical Care (RTCC). You will practice in an environment where the emphasis is on professional practice and customer satisfaction. Using your clinical expertise, you will, in collaboration with the IDHCT, be responsible for patients within primarily acute care areas of the hospital including ICU/CCU and Emergency. <br /><br />The Resource Team Critical Care currently has openings for September 2024 Critical Care Course Intake, for which Oak Valley Health will pay for your tuition and time. The course is an opportunity for registered nurses interested in working in the Resource Team Critical Care, to develop their knowledge and skills in preparation for a career in critical care at Oak Valley Health's Markham site. We are considering full-time and part-time applications at this time.<br /><br />Upon successful completion of the Critical Care Course, you agree to commit to a period of twenty-four (24) months of employment at Oak Valley Health in Critical Care Areas. If you resign during this twenty-four (24) month period or decrease your status (from full-time to part-time or casual or part time to casual) you will reimburse Oak Valley Health for the tuition fees paid by the Hospital according to the following schedule:<br /><br />6 Months or Less 100% of Tuition Paid<br />6+ to 12 Months 50% of Tuition Paid<br />12+ to 24 Months 25% of Tuition Paid<br /><br />The Hospital is authorized to deduct fees owing from your wages.<br /><br />If you do not successfully complete the program, you will not be eligible to work in the Resource Team Critical Care. We will endeavor to transfer you to another unit within the Markham site based on needs and your clinical experience and skills. In addition, you will be required to reimburse Oak Valley Health the full amount of the cost of tuition.<br />
