Responsibilities: <ul> <li>In addition to bench responsibilities, the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist, Transfusion Medicine acts as a resource technologist to MLTs regarding technical problems and other related issues in Transfusion Medicine.</li> <li>In addition to being a resource to the technologists, this position prioritizes workload; ensure patient results are reported in a timely fashion; assumes duties of the Charge Technologist as needed; and leads day-to-day bench level problem solving.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <div> <ul> <li>Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).</li> <li>Currently holds a practicing class registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).</li> <li><em>At least 5 years' experience in Core Laboratory including Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Microbiology.</em></li> <li>An Advanced Certification in Transfusion Medicine or Advanced Learning Courses in Transfusion Medicine.&nbsp; An ART, Bachelor, or Master&rsquo;s degree in a related field is an asset.</li> <li>Recent evidence of continuing education in Transfusion Medicine courses, seminars and webinars.</li> <li>Knowledge of laboratory computer systems (Meditech preferred) and Microsoft Office.</li> <li>Must be capable of providing technical and theoretical support and guidance at an advanced level to the Core Lab staff.</li> <li>Demonstrates expertise at an advanced level in problem-solving.</li> <li>Experience In ordering and inventory management including consumables, blood and blood products.</li> <li>Familiarity with Laboratory Accreditation Requirements from Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD).</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.</li> <li>Proven ability to work independently in a dynamic multi-tasking laboratory.</li> <li>Demonstrates a positive and professional outlook in a rapidly changing environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.</li> </ul> </div> <br /><br /> <p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p> <p>Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario&rsquo;s leading community healthcare <span class="WDH1">organizations.&nbsp;Across</span> our two sites (Markham and Uxbridge) and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC), we provide high quality, patient-centred care to more than 468,000 patients each year.
