Responsibilities: <p>Key responsibilities include planning, development, implementation, education, evaluation and support. The successful candidate will engage stakeholders in implementing processes to meet regulatory standards and scope of practice optimization, support, engage, and mentorship of staff and support of safe care delivery including risk mitigation strategies. The successful candidate&rsquo;s leadership, professionalism, diplomacy, and continuous improvement will be evident as they collaborate with stakeholders.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice, the Professional Practice Leader, Emergency MSH is responsible for developing and maintaining education materials, delivering training and providing ongoing support for the Emergency department at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Through participation on committees, working groups and project teams, the Professional Practice Leader collaborates with others to support projects, process improvement, and mandated initiatives, focusing on system optimization, uptake of best practices, and adoption of supported clinical practices. The Professional Practice Leader will be responsible for active participation in supporting a diverse team of experienced and novice professionals.</p>
Requirements: <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required,</li> <li>Master&rsquo;s Degree in a related health discipline (e.g., Nursing, Health Administration, Professional Practice) is required or in progress of completion</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Required Skills</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a registered nurse in good standing</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience working in Emergency</li> <li>Recent experience as a professional practice leader, clinical educator or equivalent preferred</li> <li>Membership with the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario preferred</li> <li>Canadian Nurses Association certification in Emergency preferred</li> <li>BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor with Heart and Stroke preferred</li> <li>Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate</li> <li>Expertise in the delivery of formal and informal education/coaching</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching strategies</li> <li>Expertise in planning/implementing and evaluating practice changes</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, practice standards, and best practice guidelines</li> <li>Proven experience teaching and supporting clinicians coupled with effective leadership, decision-making, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Ability to combine clinical experience, best practice and knowledge to provide effective education, support and input on organizational initiatives</li> <li>Uses effective leadership, facilitation, persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.</li> <li>Demonstrated effective organizational, research, data analysis skills, time management and priority setting skills in accomplishing assigned work deliverables in a dynamic climate of competing demands</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to function both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.</li> <li>Basic understanding of data, clinical information and how these are operationalized within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to create knowledge.</li> <li>Experience in providing guidance and support to clinical teams to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the systems within patient care</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to create and execute plans and ensure timelines are met while working with a variety of stakeholders.</li> <li>Exercises initiative, self-direction and critical thinking abilities to identity gaps and opportunities for improvement.</li> <li>Maintains a results-oriented attitude to continually improve processes, enhance efficiency and contribute to overall clinical and organizational success.</li> <li>Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards</li> <li>Demonstrated a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required</li> </ul>
