Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Responsible for the management, operations and organizational effectiveness of the department, including managing all aspects of human and financial resources, developing, implementing and managing short and long-term strategic priorities and quality improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Operational responsibilities include: <ul> <li>Facilitating the development and ongoing evaluation of the hospital&rsquo;s infection surveillance program.</li> <li>Monitors and reports key performance indicators both internally and externally. If targets are not met, develops and implements mitigation strategies/action plans to ensure that the targets are met.</li> <li>Provides IPAC expertise in the hospital&rsquo;s response to a new emerging infectious disease.</li> <li>Ensures that reportable diseases as outlined in the Health Protection and Promotion Act are reported to public health authorities in a timely fashion.</li> <li>Provides timely communication of infection-related issues and relevant practices to leaders, staff, physicians and volunteers.</li> <li>Leads the IPAC team and advises hospital leadership during outbreak management.</li> <li>Ensures IPAC policies and procedures are based on current scientific literature, guidelines and standards.</li> <li>Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on issues of IPAC significance.</li> <li>Works collaboratively with Occupational Health and Safety to decrease the risk of infection to patients, staff, physicians and volunteers.</li> <li>Ensures ongoing education of patients, staff, physicians and volunteers.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Ensures excellence in patient care and service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes that include planning, quality monitoring and risk avoidance.</li> <li>Provides leadership in the development of new initiatives by creating an environment that encourages creativity, innovation and critical thinking among the team.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree preferred. Baccalaureate degree in a health care related field or equivalent combination of education (e.g., public health, epidemiology, microbiology) and proven expertise in infection prevention and control with leadership skills is essential.</li> <li>Certification in Infection Control (CIC).</li> <li>Member of a national Infection Control Association (IPAC Canada) is preferred.</li> <li>5 years infection control related leadership experience required, with a minimum of 3 years acute care experience.</li> <li>Exceptional problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.</li> <li>Excellent human resources, financial and information management skills.</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.</li> <li>Experience with statistics or data analysis.</li> <li>Demonstrate commitment to professional development.</li> <li>Demonstrated leadership ability.</li> <li>Ability to analyze infection control legislation control and standards and implement in Policy and Procedures development and clinical practice.</li> <li>Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, both written and oral.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and within a group environment.</li> <li>Ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change.</li> <li>Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.</li> <li>Demonstrates ability to mentor, coach and support effective team building and functioning.</li> <li>Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p> <p>Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario&rsquo;s leading community healthcare organizations.&nbsp; Across our two sites (Markham and Uxbridge) and Reactivation Care Centre (RCC), we provide high quality, patient-centred care to more than 435,000 patients each year.
