Oakland Hills Country Club

Founded in 1916, Oakland Hills Country Club has, and will continue to play a significant role in the history of golf in the United States. Walter Hagen, five time PGA Champion, was the club's first head professional. The South Course has played host to 16 Major Championships including: six U.S. Opens; two U.S. Senior Opens; U.S. Women’s Amateur; U.S. Men’s Amateur; Western Open; the Carling World Open; the 35th Ryder Cup in 2004; and three PGA Championships -- including the 90th PGA Championship in 2008. Some of the greatest players ever to play the game including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Ben Hogan have competed and won on the famed South Course, also known as "The Monster". Overview: The hostess assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service in personnel and cleanliness of the dining room; evaluate staff; operate within budgetary guidelines; recognize personal responsibilities in providing complete member and guest satisfaction. Reports to the Food and Beverage Manager.
Responsibilities: <h3>Job Responsibilities and Standard of Performance:</h3> <p>Provides club information to members and guest.</p> <ul> <li>Present and on time for scheduled work</li> <li>Professional attire is complete, clean and pressed.</li> <li>Punches in and out on correct time card.</li> <li>Maintain professional appearance of the dining area.</li> <li>Has knowledge of the phone system.</li> <li>Able to answer multi-lines in a professional and efficient manner.</li> </ul> <p>Plan, organize, and execute A La Carte Dining service.</p> <ul> <li>Plan floor diagram/sections based upon reservations and anticipated member and guest counts and needs.</li> <li>Insure proper service; assist in selection of service staff.</li> <li>Take reservations, check table reservation schedules; be aware of banquets and functions.</li> <li>Attend pre-meal meeting with dining room personnel when appropriate.</li> <li>Greet and seat members/guest on a routine basis.</li> <li>Handle any complaint from members/guests and staff, inform Clubhouse Manager and F&amp;B Manager immediately.</li> <li>Assure the correct appearance, cleanliness and proper set-up of the dining rooms. Check the maintenance of all equipment in the dining/banquet rooms and report deficiencies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist Concierge with member/guest dining room reservation system. Ensure accurate, consistent information.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist in the execution of events and parties as needed.</li> <li>Effectively communicate with all departments.</li> </ul> <p>Financial plans are developed, adhered to, and records are maintained.</p> <ul> <li>Insure documentation of departmental records are maintained (i.e. staff rotations, guest counts, employee issues, side-work, etc.)</li> <li>Insure all side work projects, etc. are accomplished correctly and all cleaning&nbsp;&nbsp; of equipment and storage areas are completed according to schedule.</li> <li>Insure an inventory of dining room items including silverware, coffee pots, water pitchers, salt and pepper holders, sugar bowls, etc. is maintained.</li> <li>Monitor dining room labor and supplies; make suggestions and adjustments as necessary to achieve financial goals</li> </ul> <p>Provides quality experiences for all members, guests and staff. </p> <ul> <li>Acknowledge members, guests, and staff promptly, making eye-contact and smiling.</li> <li>Act as an emissary of member needs and requests by:</li> <li>Communicate pleasantly and positively.</li> <li>Greeting members by name (i.e. Mr._______, Mrs._______) whenever possible. Requirements: <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li> <li>Skills: Customer Service Skills, Website Knowledge, Computer Skills, Knowledge of Point of Sale Software.</li> <li>Experience: Previous hostess/dining room experience preferred.</li> <li>Certifications: None required</li> <li>Physical Demands: Light physical effort.&nbsp; Extensive periods of standing, walking and bending.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
