Octagon Talent Solutions is searching for an Aquaponics Systems Facility Manager for one of our clients in the Port St. Lucie area, and it could be you! This is a chance to oversee aquaponics systems' strategic planning and implementation, conduct research, and promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. You will work closely with company executives, Project Engineers, and internal staff to complete projects promptly and effectively. Your primary responsibility will be managing all crop production aspects to achieve organic best-in-class yields and quality. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Grow and deliver large volumes of high-quality organic crops.</li> <li>Hire, mentor, train, and develop staff to build a stronger team.</li> <li>Manage a team of up to 5 aquaponics systems technologists. Provide regular feedback and support.</li> <li>Work closely with all Supervisors, Crew Leaders, and Office Staff to ensure that all aspects of each facility are running efficiently.</li> <li>Improve and implement organic certified spray programs and submit monthly use reports.</li> <li>Manage resources, including Aquaponics greenhouse, and work with outdoor growing areas management to maximize production, minimize impact from environmental conditions, and mitigate company exposure and liability.</li> <li>Collaborate with the Director of Regenerative Farming to select, purchase, or approve the purchase of raw materials such as seed, plant nutrients, and disease control chemicals.</li> <li>Make sure all job tools are available to do the jobs. Plastic, soil media, labels with recycling and organic efficiencies, etc.</li> <li>Manage departmental expenses, including the Capital Expenditure plan, and oversee all renovations or additions.</li> <li>Coordinate clerical, record-keeping, inventory, requisition, and marketing activities with functional leaders as we build and develop an ERP system.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ensure the Injury Illness Prevention Program is up to date with Company-wide policies and procedures and adhered to by the employees.</li> <li>Maintain Safety programs and other aspects of regulatory compliance.</li> <li>Oversee and advise on all repairs and maintenance projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversee seedling starts in Aquaponics transfer plugs to Ag-farm&nbsp;</li> <li>Secure website for record-keeping, with independent, self-motivated problem-solvers.</li> <li>Strong team management that builds a hard-working culture, with conflict resolution skills.</li> <li>Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks with training proficiency.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Experience working in the promotion of sustainability programs, sustainability-related coordination efforts, managing and developing a sustainable agriculture conservation behavioral change program (islands), utilizing greenhouse quantification procedures and methodology, mentoring, guiding, and working with students, faculty, staff, and any relatable environmental, economic or societal component of a sustainability program within our overall plan. Experience with communication (written and verbal presentations), research, and multi-constituent collaboration.</li> <li>Minimum five (5) years experience as a grower in either agricultural greenhouse, Aquaponics, or hydroponics production.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with knowledge of planting, propagation, plant diseases, insect pests, fertilizing, soil matrices, soil pH, irrigation, seasonal planting cycles, pruning, strong emphasis on organic agricultural practice, and integrated pest management.</li> <li>Good attention to detail and organizational skills are required.</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.</li> <li>Have a curiosity to learn and expand your knowledge of horticulture.</li> <li>B.A. in agriculture or horticulture, or four years relevant experience.</li> <li>Must possess a Florida Pesticide applicator license and driver&rsquo;s license or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br />Working Conditions:<br /><br /> Must be able to lift at least 60 lbs.
