Overview: <h2><strong>The opportunity</strong></h2> <p dir="LTR">We are adding an Applications Engineer to our Enterprise Operations team as part of our organization-wide investment in new and optimized technology. &nbsp;As our next Applications Engineer, you will play a critical role in migrating our legacy on-premise solutions to a hybrid Azure cloud environment. This is a chance to apply your expertise in infrastructure and architecture as you grow your knowledge in virtualization and cloud services.</p> <p dir="DEFAULT">&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong>Who you'll work with</strong></h2> <p dir="LTR">Reporting to the Senior Manager, SaaS &amp; PaaS Services, you will deliver a variety of enterprise systems and manage several key systems critical to our business functions. In this role, you will be part of a collaborative and innovative team, dedicated to introducing a strengthened technology foundation across the organization. This is a nimble team, continuously learning through experimentation, research, and professional development opportunities.</p>
Responsibilities: <p dir="LTR"><strong><u>Build new systems.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Own and manage the end-to-end build of systems, engaging internal teams, vendors, as well as managed service partners</li> <li>Keep an up to date record of systems and builds, including certificates and licenses</li> <li>Implement, test, and remediate where required, including HA, backup, alerting, DR, and controls</li> <li>Support the development of standard build instructions for new technologies</li> <li>Develop build &ldquo;As Built&rdquo; and operational documentation</li> <li>Transition build knowledge to internal teams to ensure systems meet operational standards</li> <li>Ensure success in building and migrating applications, software, and services</li> </ul> <p dir="DEFAULT">&nbsp;<strong><u>Configure and enhance existing systems.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and support the configuration of SaaS &amp; PaaS infrastructure systems</li> <li>Drive continuous improvement by supporting and implementing systems upgrades</li> <li>Collaborate with internal teams; contributing valuable insights to capacity plans and forecasts</li> <li>Maintain, develop, and enhance application configuration automation frameworks</li> <li>Track and manage OTPP systems, technologies, and applications across the complete lifecycle</li> <li>Build APIs that simplify service consumption for our end-users and engineers</li> <li>Optimize and support existing SaaS &amp; PaaS technology as well as data centre based solutions</li> <li>Minimize system integration complexity while maintaining system reliability and business continuity</li> </ul> <p dir="DEFAULT">&nbsp;<strong><u>Constantly expand your knowledge; leveraging it to drive improvements.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Keep up to date with the latest operation system administration procedures and best practices; ensuring learning is documented and shared with the Infrastructure team</li> <li>Continuously update and build upon your knowledge of accepted industry and company standards to improve service delivery</li> <li>Collect data and deliver reports on internal technology and processes; suggesting improvements whenever possible</li> <li>Strategize on how to best meet key business objectives; planning your course of action and executing on it</li> </ul>
Requirements: <h2><strong>What you'll need</strong></h2> <ul> <li>The education. You have a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Business Studies, IT or have the equivalent work experience. Ideally, you have your ITIL Foundations and TOGAF certifications.</li> <li>The experience. You have 5+ years of hands-on experience working with application technologies in a cloud environment; preferably Microsoft Azure. You have proven success migrating client applications to the cloud; ideally in the capital markets, finance, or banking industry. You have experience automating application configuration and have successfully instituted SaaS applications from start to finish in the past.</li> <li>The technical knowledge. You have 5+ years of experience with application technologies such as Charles River, SimCorp, Quantum, OneTick, Adaptiv, Office 365, Airwatch, Intune, Datanomics, Lawson, Adobe AEM, Camunda Workflow, UC4, Jive, Liferay, and SAS. You're a skilled scripter with experience in YAML, Powershell, and Python. You are well-versed in SaaS application design including infrastructure, database, and middleware.</li> <li>The people skills. You are comfortable working with individuals at any level and are able to effectively convey your point and gain support from diverse stakeholders. You&rsquo;re an excellent listener who&rsquo;s able to understand client needs, manage conflicting demands, and develop a solution that everyone is happy with.
