Overview: <h2><strong>The opportunity</strong></h2> <p dir="DEFAULT">We are adding a Senior Manager, Automation and Tools to our Enterprise Operations division. In this role, you will lead the management of 35+ tools across the technology lifecycle; owning the strategy, roadmap, and continuous improvement of Ontario Teachers&rsquo; technical foundation. With your finger on the pulse of technical innovation, you will define how we upgrade and expand our toolset and automation capabilities to better meet business goals. As the Senior Manager, Automation and Tools, you will oversee budgeting, licensing as well as asset and vendor management with a focus on leveraging automation and technology to enable stronger business outcomes.</p> <p dir="DEFAULT">W<strong>ho you'll work with</strong></p> <p dir="DEFAULT">Reporting to the Senior Manager, Non-Production Environment, Automation and Tools, you will contribute to Ontario Teachers&rsquo; technical strategy by leading the execution and improvement of automation and tools internally. As the Senior Manager, Automation and Tools, you will lead, coach and mentor 4 direct reports while managing a team of contractors and third-party providers. In this role, you&rsquo;ll collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Information Security, DevOps, QA and Application teams to understand their tool and automation needs; providing services that increase success and efficiency.</p>
Responsibilities: <h2><strong>What you'll do</strong></h2> <p dir="DEFAULT"><strong><u>Lead technical strategy.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Own lifecycle management of infrastructure technology assets including process, strategy and operations</li> <li>Define tools and automation solution planning; translating desired architecture into high-level design as well as detailed system frameworks</li> <li>Create infrastructure technology business cases and manage allocated resources and budget across the lifecycle</li> <li>Prioritize projects by focusing on those that deliver maximum value to Ontario Teachers&rsquo;</li> <li>Identify areas of risk, improvement and opportunity to optimize Ontario Teachers&rsquo; use of technology</li> <li>Implement and mature the governance model for tools and automation capabilities</li> <li>Transition test environment activities to full automation</li> <li>Manage service quality of defined infrastructure services including SLAs and SLOs</li> <li>Develop and maintain service descriptions and TCOs for infrastructure services</li> <li>Continuously improve all technology products, services and processes managed to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness</li> <li>Establish KPIs to track the efficiency of tools and automation efforts</li> </ul> <p dir="LTR"><strong><u>Guide your team to success.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Outline tools and automation goals as well as priorities for the team</li> <li>Mentor, coach and conduct performance evaluations for team members</li> <li>Create alignment between in-house and external contributors through clear, open communication</li> <li>Ensure the quality and on-time completion of tools and automation initiatives</li> <li>Establish standards, program activities, artifacts, templates, process rollout and process owners across projects</li> <li>Develop long-term and short-term plans to deliver tools and automation maintenance, enhancements and configuration changes</li> <li>Lead a team of direct reports, contractors and third-party service providers to success</li> </ul> <p dir="DEFAULT"><strong><u>Collaborate.</u></strong> You will:</p> <ul> <li>Work with Senior Management to identify, size and plan yearly projects and objectives</li> <li>Manage strategic vendor relationships ensuring appropriate oversight to vendor solutions</li> <li>Develop policies and standards for partners to follow</li> <li>Clearly communicate project updates to the appropriate stakeholders</li> </ul>
Requirements: <h2><strong>What you'll need</strong></h2> <ul> <li>The education. You have a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Business, IT or have the equivalent experience. Ideally, you have your ITIL Foundations and TOGAF certifications.</li> <li>The experience. You&rsquo;re a natural people leader with 7+ years of experience in the infrastructure and / or information security space. You have successfully managed the full lifecycle of multiple technologies and have developed, as well as executed, three and five-year technology strategies with TCO and ROI objectives. You understand how solutions flow from raw product to solution delivery at a detailed activity level.</li> <li>The technical expertise. You have a deep understanding of infrastructure technology solutions and vendor products across multiple solution domains including information security, infrastructure, automation, containerization and open stack. You have expert-level knowledge of infrastructure concepts and technologies as well as common IT organizational functions, inter-relations and dependencies. You are well-versed in: <ul> <li>Technical project management best practices including ITIL, ITSM and SDLC methodologies</li> <li>Security tools such as CyberArk PSM, QRADAR, Barracuda, Guardium, Ironport, Proofpoint, Sailpoint, Carbon Black Protection, Forcepoint, McAfee, Secureworks IPS/IDS and CAS SSO</li> <li>Automation and infrastructure technology such as Ansible, Jenkins, Dynatrace, Urban Code, Powershell, CHEF, Delphix, Prometheus, GitHub, Bamboo, SonarQube and Nexus</li> </ul> </li> <li>The leadership ability. You&rsquo;re a strong negotiator with the unique ability to influence without authority. You want to contribute to the big-picture vision through recommendations, decisions-making and a technical leadership role.</li> <li>The people skills. An outstanding written and verbal communicator, you excel when working with others. You effectively articulate your point and always meet the needs of your clients. You have experience working within a matrix environment, can build strong cross-functional relationships and always go the extra mile to satisfy your clients &ndash; even when they&rsquo;re internal.</li> <li>The analytical mindset.
