Overview: The Senior Systems Engineer will coordinate engineering development of biotechnology instrumentation with internal engineering resources and external contractors and vendors. Translate multi-disciplinary needs into detailed design specifications to guide design of the system. Ensure clear communication and requirements generation across multiple engineering and science disciplines as well as stakeholders. Own the successful engineering design of high visibility instrumentation projects and lead the development of technology that bridges cutting edge electrical, optical, mechanical, and fluidic engineering with the life sciences.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Create requirement and specifications documents for engineering projects.</li> <li>Manage engineering projects through life cycle with inter-disciplinary teams both inside and outside the company.</li> <li>Ability to effectively communicate results and their impact on an systems level in a multidisciplinary environment.</li> <li>Guide validation and system level testing, including development of test plans and coordination of test resources.</li> <li>Design and assemble research platforms to understand complex scientific concepts.</li> <li>Work as a cohesive part of the research and development team.</li> <li>Can effectively and synergistically use Microsoft Office, MATLAB, COMSOL, JMP, or other analogous computer programs.</li> <li>Maintain accurate experimental records and perform data analysis on results.</li> <li>Embrace effective engineering process and appropriate documentation procedures.</li> <li>Set up, operate, and monitor semi-automated systems for biotechnology production.</li> <li>Promote and maintain clean, organized work areas.</li> <li>Follow established safety regulations, and develop new guidelines when appropriate.</li> <li>Display willingness to perform non-routine tasks as needed to ensure overall productivity is high.</li> <li>Consistently seek out more efficient and productive ways to handle tasks within the labs.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>A degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Project Management, or engineering discipline.</li> <li>At least 10 years of experience in an industrial setting or 5 years of experience with advanced degree.</li> <li>Extremely strong technical communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent people and leadership skills.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail and respect for quality assurance.</li> <li>Experience with biological products or processes is preferred.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>EOE</p>
