Overview: <p>We have an opportunity in Novi, MI seeking to hire a <strong>Software Project Engineer Level 2</strong> to join an extraordinary team. The Software Project Engineer is responsible for managing the software portion for airport baggage handling projects. In this position, you will partner with the Project Manager, engineering staff and our customer to help ensure the project deliverables are achieved successfully. Additionally, in this role you will at times delegate or personally create System or Software Functional Specifications, System Architecture, Descriptions of Operations, System Configuration, System Testing, Installation Support, System Support.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Maintain high level of contact with clients, Software engineers and Webb Project Management.</li> <li>Translate high level contact meeting results into prioritized action items for the team.</li> <li>Must develop knowledge of contract and client specifications intimately.</li> <li>Create gap analyses between client specifications and the current Webb product.</li> <li>Generate the appropriate Webb specifications and ensures they are approved quickly by the client.</li> <li>Collaborates with other Project Engineers on project resourcing, reporting and other administrative activities.</li> <li>Must be able to create and successfully execute project plans.</li> <li>Project work is substantially located throughout the country; the incumbent for this role will need to travel mostly for commissioning of systems and on-site engineering tasks that cannot be accomplished from our office. On occasion off-shift work may also be necessary to support commissioning efforts.</li> <li>Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.</li> <li>Monitor/Assess performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.</li> <li>Be able to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.</li> <li>Be able to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.</li> <li>Be thorough and diligent in one&rsquo;s duties. Recognize tasks that need to be completed and facilitate the completion of those tasks independently.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>BS-CS/CE/EE or IT professional is required.</li> <li>Experience managing a project and related people resources.</li> <li>Scheduling and estimating experience.</li> <li>Expert knowledge of MS Office, Visio and MS Project.</li> <li>PMP is a plus.</li> <li>Experience within the material handling industry, preferred.</li> <li>Baggage handling experience, preferred. Qualified individual must have a demonstrated ability to lead technical projects in a dynamic environment of competing priorities.</li> <li>At least (8) eight years of a combination of the following: .NET development, C/C++/C# software development, Windows and SQL Server administration, 5+ years of team leadership, and/or 3+ years of IT or Software project management.</li> </ul>
