Overview: The Energy Storage Operator role is responsible to manage the real-time operations of ORMAT&rsquo;s battery storage portfolio, as well as monitoring of grid conditions, monitoring of battery storage operation, and providing event forecasting and analytics reporting.<br /><br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manage the real-time operations of ORMAT&rsquo;s battery portfolio, including dispatching generation based upon economic conditions and operational constraints,</li> <li>Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures.</li> <li>Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and asset management.</li> <li>Have the responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.</li> <li>Communicate with Scheduling Coordinators, Transmission Operators and ISO&rsquo;s on continual basis, taking necessary actions and providing ancillary services to ensure system reliability.</li> <li>Must comply with applicable NERC Reliability Standards and regional ISO rules and tariffs.</li> <li>Monitor and analyze available market information to identify dispatching and trading opportunities</li> <li>Manage the operation of the battery storage assets with a continuous focus on balancing operation vs health of the equipment.</li> <li>Maintain the reliability by conducting systems checks and fixing errors</li> <li>Ensure documentation for processes you are responsible for is current and complete.</li> <li>Actively contribute to conversations about process improvements, tool enhancements, and general team operation</li> <li>Must complete necessary NERC or ISO certification and continuing education requirements as applicable (candidate must complete certification as per Training Policy (within 6-10 months of hire).</li> <li>**This job description reflects an assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Other duties and tasks may be assigned to this job at the Company's discretion.*</li> </ul> <br /> OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES<br /> <ul> <li>The role will require working outside of normal business hours.</li> <li>Must be able to work a rotating shift on a 24-hour operational schedule (However, during the initial training phase, which may last up to 4 months, the hours will be 8:00 am &ndash; 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.)</li> </ul> <br />
Requirements: <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent or relevant experience or equivalent military experience</li> <li>Must be available to fulfill storm/event duty requirements, which may include reporting to work during winter storms or other possible catastrophic events, and working extended shifts as necessary until storm or event conditions reside</li> <li>Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite</li> <li>Must be able to read and follow written procedures.</li> <li>Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and effectively communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.</li> </ul> <br />Preferred Qualifications:<br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree</li> <li>Previous Energy industry experience, but not required</li> <li>NERC or PJM certification is a plus (candidate must complete certification within 12 months of hire)</li> <li>Prior experience working in one or more of the following markets (but not required): CAISO,ERCOT,MISO,PJM,NYISO,IESO,ISONE</li> </ul> <br /> <br /><br />Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<br /> <ul> <li>Proven ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing</li> <li>Ability to work well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in a fast-paced environment</li> <li>Ability to work without supervision while carrying out duties</li> <li>Ability to handle multiple tasks or assignments at the same time</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment</li> <li>Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skill</li> <li>Organized, task-oriented, and strong attention to detail</li> <li>Competence in mathematics and technical concepts</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage high-stress situations calmly and effectively.</li> <li>Must be able to exercise independent discretion and judgment.</li> <li>Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license with a driving record acceptable to Ormat&rsquo;s auto insurance carrier.</li> </ul> <br /><br /> PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS<br /> <ul> <li>Must be able to work in office environment.</li> <li>This job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping and kneeling.</li> <li>The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert.</li> <li>Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance</li> </ul> <br />Additional information<br /><br />All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
