Overview: This position will lead our commercial expansion in North America. Beyond traditional sales, this position will be responsible for building the market for Ormat&rsquo;s Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) technology.<br /> <br />This position will act as a pioneer, educating key stakeholders and creating the commercial infrastructure necessary to close large-scale projects valued at $100M+. The position will report directly to the VP of EGS and play a pivotal role in establishing Ormat as the leader in the geothermal energy transition.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Market Creation &amp; Education: Actively "build the market" by educating utilities, industrial energy users, and regulators on the benefits and bankability of EGS technology.</li> <li>Relationship &amp; Pipeline Development: Identify and engage EGS developers, geothermal startups, project developers, and strategic partners and pursue large-scale project opportunities, taking them from initial concept to final contract.</li> <li>End-to-End Deal Leadership: Lead opportunities from first contact through qualification, commercial structuring, proposal, negotiation, and signature.</li> <li>Oil &amp; Gas Integration: Leverage deep connections in the Oil &amp; Gas sector to identify synergies, such as repurposing assets or applying drilling expertise to geothermal applications.</li> <li>Ecosystem Building: Develop strategic partnerships with EPC firms, drilling contractors, and financial institutions to create a "total solution" for customers.</li> <li>Policy &amp; Advocacy: Work with the VP EGS to influence industry standards and take advantage of federal and state incentives (e.g., IRA).</li> </ul> <br /> <br />Other Responsibilities<br /> <ul> <li>Other duties and projects as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>B.Sc. in Engineering, Geosciences, or related field. MBA is a plus.</li> <li>10+ years in Business Development or Sales, with a proven track record of launching new technologies or opening new markets in the energy sector.</li> <li>Experience in closing infrastructure-scale deals valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.</li> <li>Strong roots in Oil &amp; Gas and/or Power Generation are essential.</li> <li>Ability to see the "big picture" and articulate the value of a new technology to skeptical, traditional stakeholders.</li> <li>Must have exceptional interpersonal skills. A master communicator who can build trust and maintain C-level relationships over long development cycles.</li> <li>Commercial, Contracts &amp; Negotiation: Strong understanding of commercial contracts and proven negotiation skills; ability to partner effectively with legal while owning commercial outcomes.</li> <li>Financial Expertise: Deep understanding of Project Finance, energy economics, and deal structuring for $100M+ assets.</li> <li>Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.</li> <li>Ability to travel up to 75%.</li> </ul> <br /> <br /> <br />Physical Requirements<br /> <ul> <li>Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.</li> <li>The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.</li> </ul> <br /> <br /> <br />Nearest Major Market: Reno<br /> <br />Nearest Secondary Market: Tahoe
