Overview: <p>If you &ldquo;geek-out&rdquo; when someone talks about optimization of complex processes or the thought of being part of improving and implementing integrated systems raises your blood pressure (in a good way), then read on!&nbsp;</p> <p>We are looking for an experienced Industrial Engineer to join our growing team of operations that is driven, determined, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Initial focus for this position will be working on the build out and start-up of what will become our flagship one million sq/ft order fulfillment facility in Savannah, GA.&nbsp;</p> <p>This role will report directly to our Director Domestic Supply Chain &amp; Operations. We continue to build a best-in-class operations and logistics team that allows us to meet customer and consumer expectations by meeting delivery timelines, improving services.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>This position supports and leads major process improvement projects for our U.S. facilities to include the management of major projects that have system-wide impact. Such projects include but are not limited to; new facility design and facility start up, redesign of existing facilities maximizing work space, implementation of work flow best practice, evaluation and implementation of labor management systems, evaluation of future-state capital equipment and process redesign, facility exit planning and serving as a consultant to business process improvements.</p> <ul> <li>Manages multiple projects within multiple facilities. Responsible for projects: financials, schedules, vendor coordination, implementation, team updates, problem solving, resources and services, data analysis, and reports.</li> <li>Consults on facility specific layout changes by developing CAD layouts of proposed changes and interacting with DC Operations Group to develop optimal solutions.</li> <li>Facility and/or system-specific equipment long range planning including research and analysis on both current equipment as well as researching new technology for implementation in existing operations that will effectively achieve operational goals/requirements. Activities result in the development of capital expenditure recommendations.</li> <li>Performs network capacity analysis to determine how to fit what is needed i.e. equipment, services, technology, workforce, into new or existing space of operations. This also requires the simultaneous analyzation and planning for how to move, if necessary, existing programs within Dorel Sports (Pacific Cycle).</li> <li>Maintains the Labor Management &amp; Engineered Standards program for each Fulfillment Center.</li> <li>Drives process standardization and improvements &ldquo;inside the four walls&rdquo; of their distribution center to ensure the success in meeting its objectives</li> <li>Partners with local management in the discovery of inefficiencies in day to day operations and challenges while drawing support for change across the network.</li> <li>Leads the solution development, cost benefit analysis and implementation of distribution improvement opportunities in their DC.</li> <li>Supports business development by assisting in developing solutions to support the pursuit of new business through providing operational expertise and systems knowledge.</li> <li>Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging industry practice.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Qualifying Essential Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree required in Industrial Engineering, operations analysis, logistics, supply chain or related field from accredited institution.</li> <li>Minimum 7-10 years&rsquo; experience as an industrial engineer, operations/business analyst or consultant.</li> <li>Candidate will leverage a continuous improvement mindset and experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools to help improve supply chain efficiencies.</li> <li>Knowledge of warehouse design, material handling equipment and storage media technologies, pick methodology, work measurement, labor management, slotting, and warehouse value added services (i.e., kitting and customer labeling)Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to break a problem or opportunity down into sub-components; identify root causes and drivers; use creative thinking skills in developing alternative solutions.&nbsp; Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus.</li> <li>Strong communication skills; develop and articulate (written and verbal) data/process analysis, and alternative solutions. Ability to lead others to a consensus and influence change. Capable of collecting, assimilating and validating relevant business/operating information.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Travel:</strong></p> <ul> <li>This position requires 20% travel once safe to do so.</li> <li>This team is based in Savannah, GA and will travel to locations in Illinois, California, and other company location as needed. &nbsp;</li> </ul>
