As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.</p> <p><strong>Position Title: Financial Analyst</strong></p> <p><strong>Team and Location: Record to Report - Calgary, AB</strong></p> <p><strong>Minimum Starting Salary: $&nbsp;66,320 /year</strong></p> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Manager, Fixed Assets, the Financial Analyst will be a key member of the Financial Shared Services (FSS), Record to Report(R2R) team, working closely with our Parkland Canadian segments. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for various aspects of Parkland&rsquo;s fixed asset processing, acquisitions, sales, and disposals, as well as assist in reporting. The Financial Analyst will assist in process and system improvement projects as well as special and ad-hoc projects. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Processing asset additions and disposals, transfers, WIP to capital, internal labor capitalization, authority for expenditure (AFE) approvals, accruals, and consolidation journal entries in accordance with IFRS and company accounting policy.</li> <li>Investigate discrepancies and errors. Prevent errors and maintain a high level of accuracy.</li> <li>Assist in preparing Property, Plant, &amp; Equipment, and Intangible working papers - continuity schedules and additions and retirement reports.</li> <li>Preparing the monthly gain/loss reports on fixed assets.</li> <li>Proactively elevating capital asset issues to Manager or assisting to provide expertise to the organization; work closely with various departments impacted by capital assets (e.g., property tax, commodity tax, internal audit, business segments (retail, commercial and wholesale, and distribution), procurement, fleet, operations and legal).</li> <li>Communicate with project managers and operations regarding capital project spending.</li> <li>Actively participate in the process and system improvements projects relating to capital assets; Assist in developing and enhancing procedures to ensure a high standard of data accuracy and efficiencies as required.</li> <li>Respond to and support both internal and external auditor requests throughout the year.</li> <li>Monthly update of PPE and Intangible input forms in OneStream.</li> <li>Be a trusted and reliable resource who will work closely with the team in Finance Shared Services and other divisions; and</li> <li>Assist in other areas of fixed assets as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>University/college degree in finance, business, accounting, or related area.</li> <li>2+ years of relevant accounting or auditing experience; and</li> <li>Understanding of fixed assets accounting under IFRS (specifically IAS 16), including construction in progress and capitalization of labor.</li> <li>Understanding journal entries, intercompany transactions, and account reconciliations.</li> <li>Understanding of CRA tax rules relating to fixed assets, including CCA classes.</li> <li>Excellent accounting analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to proactively identify, understand and grasp issues, problems, business situations, and the overall "big picture".</li> <li>Excellent Excel skills. Must be comfortable working with heavy volumes of data and use advanced excel tools.</li> <li>Ability to formulate best practice plans, solutions, and alternatives to resolve issues with best practices. Successfully executes on issues.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, ability to work closely with operational branches across the United States over Microsoft Teams, Phone, and Outlook.</li> <li>Willingness to learn, improve existing processes, and confront new challenges.</li> <li>Self-motivated problem solver. Relentless focus on high-quality results, improvements, and operational excellence.</li> <li>Strong team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate teams and work with all business units and operations.</li> <li>Attention to detail with the ability to manage time and multi-task. Ability to work independently.</li> <li>Ability to work on evenings and/or weekends during quarter-ends or busy periods.</li> <li>Enthusiastic and committed to getting the job done in a fast-paced, high-performing, dynamic environment. Willing to "roll up sleeves" and "get the job done" when needed.</li> <li>Experience with Fixed Assets module in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP or another major ERP system.</li> <li>Exposure to the AFE process and job costing.</li> <li>Experience in industries with high volumes of fixed assets (e.g., retail, manufacturing, construction, oil/gas, fleet, etc.); and</li> <li>Experience with high-paced public or growth-orientated companies; and</li> <li>Accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent (or working towards their completion thereof) is an asset but not required.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>Please note:</p> <ul> <li>Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada at this time.
