As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Title: Sr Compliance Advisor</strong></p> <p><strong>Team and Location: Finance - Calgary, AB</strong></p> <p><strong>Minimum Starting Salary From: $150,000/year</strong></p> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Director, Middle Office, the Manager Trade Compliance is responsible to prevent, detect and mitigate regulatory risks associated with Parkland&rsquo;s growing Supply &amp; Trading business, including ensuring physical and financial trading activities are executed in accordance with internal guidelines and external laws, rules and regulatory requirements.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in all regulations, directives and guidance which apply to the Front, Middle and Back Offices for Parkland&rsquo;s Supply &amp; Trading Activities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide input and risk assessments to Senior Management and the Supply &amp; Trading business, regarding emerging issues within the market and interpretation of existing, new and amended laws, rules and regulations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Analyze Parkland&rsquo;s Supply &amp; Trading business activities and initiatives to identify and mitigate potential regulatory, reputation and financial risks.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide virtual and in-person education, training, guidance and direction on compliance issues to employees across Parkland and its subsidiary offices.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identify training needs based on requirements identified through the compliance monitoring process and KPI&rsquo;s.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develop and maintain reports for review by management and senior leadership.&nbsp;</li> <li>Act as the key compliance relationship manager and provide advisory services on compliance matters to management and staff. This may involve requesting interpretations directly from the regulators and/or arranging information sessions with the regulators. Work proactively with business line contacts and management to ensure effective and efficient compliance risk management solutions.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Review and submit various forms, disclosures and requests from regulators.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continually engage with Front, Middle and Back Office staff to identify opportunities to implement more effective compliance-related policies and procedures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Elevate high profile or high-risk cases or issues to Senior Management to ensure transparency and prompt resolution where necessary.&nbsp;</li> <li>Respond to inquires and examinations from both regulators and internal stakeholders, related to policies and procedures and regulatory obligations.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Consult on new business or new products requests to assist Front, Middle and Back Offices with incorporating compliance requirements into these initiatives.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist management and staff in communicating and implementing changes to applicable policies and procedures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Perform periodic reviews and assessments to ensure compliance policies and risk controls are operating appropriately.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develop and assist in the design, implementation, maintenance and administration of controls, procedures, policies, investigations, training, testing, surveillance and the overall compliance monitoring program as it relates to Parkland&rsquo;s risk management framework.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Other responsibilities as needed.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Post-secondary degree preferably in Law/ Economics / Finance or a related field;&nbsp;</li> <li>Minimum 10 years of experience working in a commodities middle office, risk management or regulatory compliance department&nbsp;</li> <li>Extensive familiarity with regulatory requirements for Supply &amp; Trading Activities in North American energy;&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience with Allegro (ETRM) preferred; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to think outside of the box and deal with ambiguity;&nbsp;</li> <li>Strong interpersonal leadership skills, creativity and consensus;&nbsp;</li> <li>Proven business acumen and attention to detail and a strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved;&nbsp;</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the proven ability to work well in cross-functional teams and independently with limited supervision;&nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in a high volume, fast-paced and evolving work environment, adjusting to changing and conflicting demands, responsibilities and issues.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>We Offer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Our Performance-based Annual Incentive Plan, an annual bonus awarding your performance.</li> <li>A share in our success through the Employee Share Purchase Plan and 100% company matching.</li> <li>A flexible group benefit plan that offers health and dental coverage choices to meet the needs of each unique employee.
