Overview: <ul> <li>The Systems Engineer is responsible for participating in the conception and layout of facility designs during consulting projects as well as developing equipment designs and services pricing for proposal generation, vendor selection, and system implementation.&nbsp;</li> <li>This position also has responsibility for coordination of internal and external resources, equipment, and designs to ensure that the project functional specifications are being met within the defined project budget. &nbsp;</li> <li>The position may include assisting and working under more senior engineers.&nbsp;</li> <li>Corollary requirements include, but are not limited to, traveling to the site to assist with installation and startup processes and constant improvement of overall team processes.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assists senior engineers to develop concepts and designs distribution operations using state of the art material handling equipment including automation, sortation, AS/RS, cranes, conveyor and racking systems.</li> <li>Assists Sales in developing distribution center material handling conceptual layouts of systems to be proposed, including building layouts, automated material handling equipment, and structural equipment.</li> <li>Concepts and designs structural, electrical and pneumatic control systems functionality utilized in distribution center material handling projects, including scale systems, scanner systems, printer systems, etc.</li> <li>Accurately records time and expenses related to the proposal generation phase of projects.</li> <li>Supports the development of proposal documents and develops engineering bill of materials for proposal documentation.</li> <li>Develops project cost summary for mechanical equipment and installation.</li> <li>Assists in the development of the project execution schedule.</li> <li>Develops final equipment lists from approval drawings.</li> <li>Issues purchase orders for electrical equipment, engineering, and installation labor.</li> <li>Reviews and approves vendor acknowledgments/ASNs and invoices.</li> <li>Reviews vendor installation drawings and installation document packages for correctness.</li> <li>Coordinates delivery of equipment from vendors to customers.</li> <li>Site-supervises during installation and debug phases of the project as required.</li> <li>Develops as-built drawings and documentation package.</li> <li>Develops spare parts lists, maintenance manuals, and operator training manuals.</li> <li>Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Knowledge of AutoCad, including 3-D drawing capabilities.</li> <li>Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.</li> <li>Skilled in time management and ability to work independently.</li> <li>Skilled in effective oral and written communication.</li> <li>Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and plan work accordingly.</li> <li>Ability to readily learn and use vendor supplied design and pricing software packages.</li> <li>Ability to follow department procedures for developing project numbers, drawing sets, project folders, document transmittals, etc.</li> <li>Ability to take direction from project managers and executive staff with regard to work schedules, priorities, and work layout.</li> <li>Must possess good organizational skills as drawings should be neat, orderly and follow good engineering practices regarding scaling, notation, and convention.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work under more seasoned professionals and manage small to medium scale integrated systems projects.</li> </ul>
