Overview: <p>As Production Manager, you will manage manufacturing operations by establishing priorities and general work assignments, and ensuring tasks are performed timely and safely.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead, develop, and direct manufacturing and plant initiatives</li> <li>Develop systems to evaluate, score, and implement manufacturing process improvements</li> <li>Assist with the development of plant or process flow layouts to improve productivity</li> <li>Create and implement repeatable scoring metrics for all manufacturing and production operations</li> <li>Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating tools into processes (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)</li> <li>Assist in training line workers in problem-solving techniques and on-the-spot production troubleshooting</li> <li>Determine optimum manufacturing processes and raw material usage</li> <li>Identify areas for waste reduction</li> <li>Consult with Quality Assurance staff on quality issues; evaluate the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit</li> <li>Manage manufacturing employees, line workers, and other staff and ensure health and safety</li> <li>Assist with the selection of the appropriate capital equipment as needed, create business case, and then oversee purchase, installation, and start-up</li> <li>Create and maintain production and manufacturing documentation</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>University Degree in Engineering or Applied Science</li> <li>5+ years production management experience in a heavy manufacturing environment</li> <li>Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9000 knowledge and experience</li> <li>Heat treat, welding, and brake presses experience</li> <li>Well-developed skills in Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, and JD Edwards</li> <li>Production scheduling, logistics, and shipping knowledge</li> <li>Experience in both Union and Non-union working environments considered an asset</li> </ul>
