Someone who wants to work with the internal and external stakeholders and both sides of the technology teams. &nbsp;A relationship expert with exceedingly superior documentation skills and an in-depth knowledge of data warehouses and data modeling.</p> <p>This is a role for someone who wants to be the ongoing voice of the client&rsquo;s system requirements. &nbsp;A Business System Analyst who can capture the intricacies of the system design specifications. Someone who can identify through experience or based on probing discussions:</p> <ul> <li>What are the inputs?</li> <li>What are the outputs?</li> <li>What are the expectations?</li> <li>What are the metrics?</li> <li>Where is the data is coming from?</li> <li>How does the data flow&nbsp;from source to target?</li> <li>What is the transformation in between source and target?</li> </ul> <p>Project X works with exciting tech including MicroStrategy and Teradata to build inspiring data warehouse solutions. To that end, we need a Business Systems Analyst. Someone who truly enjoys business intelligence and data challenges. That&rsquo;s you.</p> <p>Business Systems Analysts at Project X are pragmatic and insightful. They work on client sites across the GTA, contributing to solution implementations, gaining incomparable exposure to complex tech and data analytics, diving deep into the problems and the solutions our clients need.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>As a Project X Business Systems Analyst you will be responsible for:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Representing both Project X and the client and developing a deep, layered understanding of the business issues and data challenges of client's organization and their industry.</li> <li>Facilitating client and internal project team meetings. From initial requirements to status updates and change requests.</li> <li>Driving the requirements. Gathering the requirements for all reports and queries that are part of the overall solution package. Developing specification for each of the reports and performing gap analysis against business requirements.</li> <li>Owning requirements. From creating detailed business and functional requirements documents to providing ongoing updates and reviewing throughout the project lifecycle.</li> <li>Leading testing initiative. Creating test plans, test scenarios and test data. Overseeing and executing test plans.</li> <li>Solving issues. From identifying and reporting issues to tracking and implementing resolutions in a timely manner</li> <li>Supporting the PM, ensuring everyone is aligned. You will be involved in the full Waterfall, Agile or combined SDLC and work across all teams to ensure we add value to the customer.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>And how do we know that&rsquo;s you? You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A university degree, preferably in Business Administration or Computer Science/Engineering.</li> <li>A minimum of five years experience on technical&nbsp;projects including three as a Business Systems Analyst.</li> <li>The unique skills. You have strong data and process modeling and analysis skills gained on Data Warehouse or Business Intelligence projects.</li> <li>A practical approach. You have the hands-on experience, theoretical knowledge and quick out-of-the-box thinking required to solve problems and offer innovative solutions.</li> <li>Drive and confidence. You revel in the BSA role. You understand and appreciate the technical intricacies and the bigger project and relationship issues too.</li> <li>The keys to success as a BSA. You flourish as a relationship builder and nurturer. You excel at documenting business needs and translating requirements. You are detail oriented. And you are expertly balance competing priorities.</li> <li>The basic tech skills such as MS Project, MS Office.</li> <li>The advanced tech skills such as an understanding of databases, data warehouses, analytics and reporting. Experience with any of the following would be beneficial: SQL, Teradata or Oracle. Exposure to MicroStrategy, Cognos or BusinessObjects would be an asset.</li> <li>A consulting state-of-mind. It&rsquo;s a thing. You&rsquo;ll know if you have it. So will we. You have the ability to work autonomously and away from headquarters for long periods of time. And still find your way back &ldquo;home&rdquo; and into the comfortable, open and sharing mental and physical space of our office on a regular basis.</li> <li>Outstanding communication skills. You know how to speak to - and keep up-to-date - stakeholders, end-users and team members of all levels. The written materials you produce are equally impressive and effective.</li> <li>Problem-solving skills. Complex projects have complex problems. And you enjoy navigating the path to a solution.</li> <li>Diplomacy.
