Overview: Quaker Houghton, the world leader in industrial fluids, providing both high-tech fluid products and fluid management services, is seeking a Chemist I to join their team. Receives and Completes Projects from Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Lab Manager. Learns and follows routine procedures, evaluates new products, and assists to identify, evaluate, reduce cost and consolidate Raw Materials.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Works in an injury-free safe manner and identifies near-miss opportunities for improvement. Works within EH&amp;S compliance for products and processes and completes all necessary training. Maintains a safe and clean working area. Learns and maintains Lab equipment.</li> <li>Learns and follows Lab procedures on Quality System.</li> <li>Receives projects from Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Lab Manager based on focused Business Plan, and works under supervision to diligently complete. Follows documented QC, Research and Group procedures.</li> <li>Completes project assignments in a timely and disciplined fashion and works under supervision on projects to resolve manufacturing issues. Reports work in a timely fashion to a supervisor.</li> <li>Evaluates Raw Materials and documents results accurately and timely in a detailed Laboratory Notebook.</li> <li>Attends courses and enhances the learning of new technology.</li> <li>Completes necessary forms for OEM certifications and qualifications.</li> <li>Position requires the safe handling of hazardous materials.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.</li> <li>Position requires the ability to lift 5-gallon pails and other heavy objects.</li> <li>Excellent understanding of chemistry and laboratory technique and displays strong attention to detail.</li> <li>Follows Quality and Work Safety protocols precisely, completes projects and reports on-time and with diligence.</li> <li>Has excellent interpersonal skills, displays a positive attitude, and works well with Group members.</li> <li>Competence in Computer and Microsoft Office applications.</li> </ul>
