Overview: <p>The assistant teacher will support our program and lead teachers by overseeing the general welfare, health and safety of all the children in the classroom.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Functions include but are not limited to:</strong></p> <p><strong>Staff</strong></p> <ul> <li>To implement and adhere to all written policies and philosophies of Rainbow Child Care Centers</li> <li>Arrange for substitute teachers in the event of an absence</li> <li>Attend monthly staff meetings</li> <li>Assist other teachers in the classroom whenever necessary</li> <li>Treat all staff members professionally and fairly</li> </ul> <p><strong>Curriculum</strong></p> <ul> <li>Know, understand and implement the Rainbow Child&nbsp;Care Center curriculum</li> <ul> <li>Gather daily observation notes, on every child who spends time in your classroom</li> <ul> <li>Maintain an average of 20 observation notes per child per Audit (5 week period) unless otherwise specified for part-time enrollees</li> </ul> <li>Complete Assessments on each child at the end of the semester</li> <ul> <li>Discuss and review Assessments with parents at parent teacher conferences</li> </ul> </ul> <li>Complete required daily and weekly forms</li> <li>Prepare neat and accurate forms for parents, distributing timely</li> <li>To assist with overseeing the arrangement, appearance, d&eacute;cor and learning environment of the classroom as instructed by the Lead Teacher according to Creative Curriculum guidelines</li> <li>To assist in overseeing the general welfare, health and safety of the children in your classroom</li> <li>To assist in planning, executing and participating in age appropriate activities for the social-emotional, physical, cognitive and nutritional development of children<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>Children</strong></p> <ul> <li>To oversee the general welfare, health and safety of all the children in the classroom</li> <li>To assist, execute and participate in age appropriate activities for the social-emotional, physical, cognitive and nutritional development of children</li> <li>To adjust the program to children with special needs</li> <li>To treat all children of all races, religions, family background and cultures impartially and with respect and consideration</li> <li>Provide children of both sexes the equal opportunities to take part in all activities</li> <li>Help children deal with anger, sadness and frustration by comforting, identifying feelings and helping children us words to solve their problems</li> <li>Mirror the behavior you expect, using manners and positive language</li> <li>Maintain primary caregiver role (Infant and Toddler classrooms)</li> <ul> <li>Primary caregiver role includes but is not limited to:</li> <ul> <li>Checking diapers every hour and changing diapers as needed</li> <li>Holding, rocking, picking-up, carrying and playing with children at their level, which may include sitting/movement on the floor</li> </ul> </ul> </ul> <ul> <li>To greet children by name upon arrival</li> <li>To maintain simple daily reports and attendance records</li> <ul> <li>Head count sheets must be completed accurately on a daily basis</li> <ul> <li>Head count sheets must be maintained and organized monthly and kept on-site for three years</li> </ul> <li>Provide (Infant &amp; Toddler) parents with daily forms</li> <ul> <li>Record liquid intake and food consumption accurately</li> </ul> </ul> <li>To observe and evaluate each child&rsquo;s progress</li> <li>Use positive approaches to help children behave constructively</li> </ul> <p><strong>Parents</strong></p> <ul> <li>To professionally discuss the developmental progress of each child with their parent (s)</li> <li>To be available for parents&rsquo; concerns, questions and comments</li> <li>To attend activity nights and parent functions</li> </ul> <p><strong>General Essential Kitchen Functions:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Adhere to Federal Food Program (if your center participates) policies and procedures regarding food service, sanitation and record keeping requirements.&nbsp; This includes but is not limited to taking meal attendance at point of service, making sure minimum serving size requirements of food and milk are served, keeping accurate records and organized filing of such records.</li> <li>Maintain safe and sanitary environment - Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of kitchen and workspace at all times</li> <li>Inventory supplies and submit timely requests for supplies and food within pre-determined budget and timeframe given</li> <li>Unpack food order, write date received on food items and rotate accordingly &ndash; using oldest date first (canned, frozen, dry, and liquid)</li> <li>Follow menu provided by RCCC &ndash; make appropriate substitutions when necessary, ensure substitutions are nutritious</li> <li>Wash hands before and after restroom use and prior to and after food prep</li> <li>Use fresh bleach solution daily</li> <li>Use RCCC sanitizing guideline on daily basis</li> <li>Incorporate state health department licensing requirements and state nutritional requirements</li> <li>Be able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds or empty contents of box and carry safely</li> <li>Assist in training teachers in cook capacity, as instructed by Program Center Director</li> <li>To be available for parents&rsquo; concerns, questions and comments related to nutrition</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Accreditation</strong></p> <ul> <li>To be aware of what Accreditation is and your role to support the center&rsquo;s effort on obtaining and maintaining the honorary credential</li> <li>To assist with preparation of classroom for Accreditation verification</li> </ul> <strong>Physical</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Weight lifting requirements are as follows:</li> <ul> <li>6 weeks to 6 months &ndash; up to 20 pounds per child</li> <li>6 months to 12 months &ndash; up to 30 pounds per child</li> <li>12 months to 18 months &ndash; up to 35 pounds per child</li> <li>18 months to 24 months &ndash; up to 40 pounds per child</li> <li>24 months to 36 months &ndash; up to 45 pounds per child</li> </ul> </ul> <p><strong>General Administration</strong></p> <ul> <li>To participate in recommended training programs, courses and other aspects of professional growth</li> <li>To open and/or close if responsibility is assigned by the Program Center Director</li> <li>To alert the Lead Teacher / Program Center Director of any concerns that may arise</li> <li>To carry out emergency procedures and drills</li> <li>To work cooperatively with other staff members and parents</li> <li>To assume an equal share of daily housekeeping duties</li> <li>To be certified in CPR and First Aid</li> <li>To think quickly and act appropriately in emergency situations</li> <li>To functioning under intense time pressure</li> <li>Putting in extra hours if needed</li> <li>Adapting to change</li> </ul>
