Overview: <p>The Controller is responsible for the management and oversight of all accounting department functions, including but not limited to; supervision of staff, all monthly, quarterly, and year end account closing, and all external and internal financial reporting.<br /><br /></p> <p><u>Expected Working Hours</u></p> <p>Core office hours are 8am &ndash; 5pm with additional hours needed, as required to manage the workflow, especially during month/quarter/year end cycles.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Direct and supervise accounting staff to ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and company policies and procedures.</li> <li>Prepare departmental budgets with input from department managers</li> <li>Prepare and/or direct the preparation of monthly financial reports and statistical data</li> <li>Perform financial analysis on budget versus actual.</li> <li>Communicate with management regarding any projected problem areas or opportunities for cost savings</li> <li>Coordinate tax return preparation and communication to ownership team</li> <li>Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements</li> <li>Manage the day-to-day activities of accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payments</li> <li>Interface with outside audit firms, financial institutions and credit card companies</li> <li>Direct and supervise financial forecasts of projected revenue and profit</li> <li>Ad-hoc analysis as required</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred</li> <li>Related Functional Experience: Minimum of 5 years including 2+ years as a Controller</li> <li>Strong knowledge of GAAP, cash flows, financial reports, and annual reports</li> <li>Strong organizational and analytical skills</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Strong knowledge and experience in using Sage Accounting Software.</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.</li> <li>Able to work under time constraints to meet specific deadlines</li> </ul>
