Overview: Assists with financial affairs of the organization and prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.<br /><br />We offer competitive benefits; medical, dental, vision and supplemental coverage. Responsibilities: <p>Maintain the general ledger (i.e. chart of accounts, reports and verify adequate and proper documentation for all entries); reconciling accounts</p> <ul> <li>Prepare/input monthly journal entries (accruals, allocations, accounting transactions, etc.).</li> <li>Verify that accounting transactions comply with financial policies and procedures and are in accordance with GAAP to the best of my knowledge.</li> <li>Print and distribute monthly financial reports, assist in variance explanations.</li> <li>Assist with internal and external audits when necessary and to ensure documents provided are accurate and the most up to date version.</li> <li>Prepare timely analysis of accounts/expenses (ADP report; payroll expenses/FTE).</li> <li>Maintain depreciation system to ensure accuracy of reporting and agrees to the general ledger system.</li> <li>Prepare/file sales and use tax returns and personal property tax returns.</li> <li>Analyze and review the use of company issued credit/debit cards, properly record transactions and follow-up with individuals with expenses purchased above authorized amounts (petty cash cards, summer camp cards, Visa, American Express, other).</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned by CFO as the need occurs to meet the needs of the department.</li> <li>Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization under the direction of the CFO.</li> <li>Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.</li> <li>Helps prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.</li> <li>Analyzes information and options by developing and maintaining spreadsheet reports; verifying information.</li> <li>Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing due diligence information.</li> <li>Will report to Controller &amp; CFO.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Skills / Qualifications:</strong>&nbsp;Accounting, GAAP, Reporting Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, Excel, Mas90, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Proficiency, Productivity, Verbal and Written Communication, General Math Skills.<br /><br /> <ul> <li>Minimum 5+ years progressive experience in a staff accountant or similar role.</li> <li>Must have excellent Excel skills.</li> <li>Sage/Peachtree software experience -highly preferred.</li> <li>BA/BS in Accounting/finance required - MBA MA/MS Accounting Highly Preferred.</li> <li>ADP Payroll experience -highly preferred.</li> <li>CPA highly preferred.</li> <li>Experience in multi-unit businesses (restaurant, retail, child care, schools) highly preferred.</li> </ul>
