Overview: <p>The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in managing daily store operations while also contributing to short-term planning and strategy that drive store performance. This role supervises associates and lower-level management, assists with customer escalations, and ensures operational standards are consistently met.</p> <p>When acting on behalf of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager leads the store team, ensuring continuity of service, results, and culture. By focusing on both execution and development, this role helps create a high-performing store environment centered on fairness, respect, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.</p>
Responsibilities: <strong>Customer Service &amp; Community Engagement<br /></strong> <ul> <li>Ensure every customer receives outstanding service by modeling and reinforcing a friendly environment through greeting, acknowledgement, high standards, and strong product knowledge.</li> <li>Provide leadership that develops team members&rsquo; ability to deliver consistent, efficient, and welcoming customer service.</li> <li>Partner with the Store Manager to plan and execute short-term initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction, sales performance, and community connection.</li> <li>Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community by engaging with customers, responding to feedback, and supporting company outreach efforts.</li> <li>Ensure proper execution of all Royal Farms marketing programs, promotions, and customer-facing initiatives.</li> <li style="list-style-type: none;"></li> </ul> <strong>Team Leadership &amp; Development<br /></strong> <ul> <li>Support the Store Manager in building and sustaining a high-performing retail team through recruiting, onboarding, training, and continuous development.</li> <li>Partner with the Store Manager to deliver training and communication on all new initiatives, including promotions, products, policies, processes, and safety equipment.</li> <li>Provide timely coaching and feedback to ensure associates consistently meet performance standards and demonstrate desired behaviors.</li> <li>Recognize and reward team members who uphold company values and performance expectations, and recommend candidates for advancement opportunities.</li> <li>Address Employee Relations matters with fairness and a resolution-oriented approach that supports both associates and business needs.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Operations &amp; Policy Compliance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Uphold and ensure consistent execution of all Royal Farms rules, policies, procedures, and systems.</li> <li>Maintain accountability for compliance in all areas, including people, safety, assets, and cash management.</li> <li>Address and escalate concerns or violations promptly to the Store Leader, and when appropriate, to the District Leader and Human Resources.</li> <li>Monitor vendor activity and enforce adherence to company policy when checking in both internal and external vendors.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Business Performance &amp; Strategy</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monitor and analyze store performance, metrics, and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement.</li> <li>Partner with the Store Manager to implement both short-term and long-term strategies and initiatives that support sales, profitability, and operational goals.</li> <li>Provide insights and recommendations to help the store team achieve performance targets while ensuring efficient execution of company programs and policies.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<strong>Additional Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Follow Royal Farms safety, security, and operational procedures as outlined in SOPs and training materials.</li> <li>Uphold the mission, core values, and brand standards of the company by ensuring all practices reflect integrity, accountability, and operational excellence.</li> <li>Performs other projects/duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supervises all store employees.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Required</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years old.</li> <li>High school diploma or GED.</li> <li>Minimum of 1 year of experience in fast food, retail, or related management.</li> <li>Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate teams.</li> <li>Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.</li> <li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.</li> <li>Basic proficiency in business math, accounting, and computer applications.</li> <li>Demonstrated analytical and decision-making abilities.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <ul> <li>An associate&rsquo;s (2-year) college degree or higher.</li> <li>Leadership experience in a fast-paced retail, food service, or fuel environment.</li> <li>Prior experience across all areas of store operations, including foodservice.</li> <li>A current ANSI-approved Food Safety Manager Certification.</li> <li>Demonstrated excellence in customer service delivery, relationship building, and clear communication.</li> <li>Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.</li> <li>Experience implementing change with measurable results.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Success Factors</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Supportive Leadership</strong>&nbsp;- Effectively supports the Store Manager by coaching team members, reinforcing standards, and maintaining a positive and productive store environment.</li> <li><strong>Operational Reliability</strong>&nbsp;- Demonstrates consistent execution of store policies, procedures, and safety practices, ensuring smooth daily operations and compliance.</li> <li><strong>Customer-Focused Performance</strong>&nbsp;- Maintains high standards of customer service and professionalism, contributing to strong community engagement and customer satisfaction.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50lbs throughout the shift.</li> <li>Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks such as squatting, stooping, and crouching.</li> <li>Must have open availability to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, based on the store&rsquo;s business needs.</li> <li>Must be able to lead, coach, and support a team in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.</li> <li>Must be able to use store technology systems including registers, scheduling tools, and reporting platforms.</li> <li>Must have or obtain an ANSI approved Food Safety Manager Certification within required timeframes and maintain certification thereafter.</li> <li>Must successfully complete the required leadership classroom training curriculum at the designated training center in Baltimore, MD or Laurel, DE.</li> <li>Must have reliable transportation and maintain regular, on-time attendance.</li> <li>Must wear slip-resistant shoes while on duty.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation Details</strong></p> <ul> <li>This is a full-time, hourly positions</li> <li>Hourly rate plus performance-based incentives</li> <li>Anticipated annual earnings are calculated based on a 40-hour workweek and on-target incentive achievement</li> <li>Actual earnings may vary based on hours worked and performance</li> <li>Salary range is a good faith estimate of the offer that will be made and earnings potential, and individual candidate amounts will vary based on experience and location.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
