We are looking for innovative and dynamic professionals with a passion for exceptional service to join our Financial Partners team as a Financial Advisor.
Responsibilities: <p>o help SECU become known, valued and utilized, your responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Establish value-add relationships with Members to understand their investment and planning needs and to offer solutions using a total, individual needs-based approach.</li> <li>Serve as primary point of contact to provide advice to Members for long-term financial planning, as well as educating and explaining the risks and benefits of investment and insurance products based upon the member&rsquo;s specific objectives and tolerance for risk.</li> <li>Establish strong, relationships through continuous periodic reviews as an essential part of Members long-term goal achievement, as well as providing the same level of service and advice to existing credit union Members.</li> <li>The needs that a Financial Advisor should be able to meet generally are growing and protecting assets and include the following:</li> <ul> <li>Determine and document the suitability of investment and insurance recommendations based upon a member's tolerance to investment risk, in such a way so the Member sees the value, and understands the risks, features and benefits associated with the solution</li> <li>Provide financial planning and investment advice from routine to highly complex</li> <li>Legacy Planning</li> <li>Protection of assets from unexpected / large scale healthcare expense</li> <li>Protection of assets from estate taxes</li> <li>Prospect outside of SECU in order to bring in new Member relationships</li> </ul> </ul> <ul> <li>Partner with and refer business to various lines of business including branch banking, business bankers and commercial lenders, mortgage loan originators, and financial center leadership.</li> <li>Develop an understanding of Credit Union philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What We&rsquo;re Looking For</strong>.</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferable in Economics, Finance, Business or&nbsp;equivalent&nbsp;work experience in financial/investment services.</li> <li>4+ years&rsquo; experience with investment sales.</li> <li>FINRA Series 7.</li> <li>FINRA Series 66 or Series 63 &amp; 65.</li> <li>Maryland Life and Health Insurance designation.</li> <li>Preferred Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC).</li> <li>Preferred Certified Financial Planner (CFP).</li> <li>Proven and documented record of success in investment sales.</li> <li>Strong collaboration, relationship building and partnership in support of a team-based culture.</li> <li>Leadership of self and others to include peer development, coaching and accountability.</li> <li>Strong customer service skills.</li> <li>Strong communication (verbal, written) experience with the ability to understand legal documents, write policy and procedures and create instructional guides.</li> <li>Follow the broker dealer established insurance and securities compliance guidelines, and strictly adhere to all company policies.</li> <li>Posses the relevant product knowledge and required skills to execute the business model outlined above.</li> <li>Strong background in Office 2010 products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) to include experience with creating reporting spreadsheets and graphs.</li> </ul>
