Overview: <p>The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and Controller in managing and executing all matters relating to the administrative and accounting functions of the operations and accounting departments. This position includes administrative and accounting goals, the plans to meet those goals, working with other team members as necessary, and the follow-up required to ensure the department is always moving forward as directed by the Controller. To this end, we are looking for a highly motivated, organized, multi-tasking, and experienced individual to join our team.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Prepare customer project billings and project progress billings and monitor accounts receivable</li> <li>Record all project payments and miscellaneous deposits</li> <li>Performs accounts payable functions to include paying invoices, scheduled payments and maintaining paid files which includes both subcontractor and job-related payments and administrative expenses</li> <li>Vendor and credit card statement reconciliation</li> <li>Performs payroll functions to include reconciling inter-company payroll, time cards, and maintain payroll files in accordance with approved retention procedures</li> <li>Communicate routinely with Project Managers on a variety of job-related topics including project compliance, payroll, project invoicing and required project reporting</li> <li>Preparation of all monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts</li> <li>Monitor project cash flow against forecasting &amp; budget templates</li> <li>Prepare customer monthly accruals</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Assist with month-end financial statement preparation and month-end adjustments</li> <li>Assist with recording of year-end closing procedures and necessary adjustments</li> <li>Review and preparation of annual 1099 statements</li> <li>Prepare travel (air, hotel, auto) arrangements for senior management as directed</li> <li>Complete other duties, as may be assigned, from time to time, for the good of the company</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Accounting degree in Accounting (will require copy of diploma or college transcript as proof)</li> <li>4+ years of progressive accounting experience</li> <li>Experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting</li> <li>Understanding of commercial insurance policies and County and State contractor licensing required</li> <li>3+ years in the General Contracting and / or Construction Management industry required</li> <li>Advanced skills with QuickBooks &ndash; all modules including job costing &amp; payroll</li> <li>Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills</li> <li>Ability to prepare business correspondence</li> <li>Professionally handle confidential information</li> <li>Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Able to manage priorities and workflow, meet deadlines</li> <li>Perform administrative and office support activities for multiple supervisors</li> <li>Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm</li> </ul>
