Overview: <br /> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">The Membership Engagement Associate (MEA) is responsible to establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with SHRM volunteer leaders, members, chapters, state councils, students, and other affiliates to achieve SHRM&rsquo;s strategy and objectives regarding membership. The MEA serves as a resource to SHRM volunteer leaders, members, chapters, state councils, students, and other affiliates.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">The MEA serves a key role in the Membership Division in supporting overall chapter, state council, and volunteer leader engagement and compliance, and is one of the primary contacts of SHRM to members, students, and volunteers. The MEA has a presence at national, regional, and local meetings and conferences and communicates the SHRM message to members and potential members. The position certifies affiliate compliance with governance structure, audits, and multi-million-dollar financial support payments. The MEA maximizes efficiencies to ensure strong and vibrant professional, student chapters, and state councils, and acts as a key enabler for membership.<br /><br /></span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Work Environment:<br /></span></strong><br />Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Establishes, maintains, and strengthens relationships with SHRM volunteer leaders, members, chapters, state councils, students, prospective members, and others to achieve SHRM&rsquo;s strategy and objectives regarding membership. This includes proposing and executing ideas, initiatives, and programs focused on growing membership acquisition and retention.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Serves as the key contact and liaison in the Membership Department for providing timely and accurate information, guidance, and support to our volunteer leaders, professional and student members, prospective members, staff, and others on various membership activities, governance, and compliance initiatives, affiliate support activities, and projects.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Participates and supports key task forces, special projects, and Tiger Team activities.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Prepares, analyzes, and distributes reports including monthly and quarterly membership data to support affiliate and staff analysis of membership acquisition and retention trends, chapter metrics, and other key SHRM initiatives. Partners with the Field Service Directors to provide the needed volunteer leader support to grow &amp; develop our chapters and state councils.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ensures practices are customer-centric and focused on developing and enhancing the member experience while adhering to established policies.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Represents SHRM at national, state, chapter, student, and other conferences and presents to these audiences.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Manages, maintains, and updates the official record for professional and student chapters, state councils, their volunteers, and members. This includes administering chapter and state council affiliation requirements and compliance programs.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Manages the annual professional and student chapter audit process, to determine affiliates in good standing and the award recognition program (SHAPE, CLIF, EXCEL, etc.). This includes managing the process to determine chapters eligible for financial support from SHRM, those eligible for professional and student chapter recognition programs, and award process.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Working with the manager over Membership Engagement, coordinates e-mail blast requests and other communication requests from chapters and state councils, and executes those requests.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Prepares and fulfills materials/exhibit displays for volunteer leader events to ensure promotion of membership, certification, and other strategic priorities.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Other duties and projects as assigned.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Requires up to two years of experience in customer-focused or similar roles with high school diploma or equivalent. Associate or bachelor&rsquo;s degree may also be substituted for the experience requirements of the position.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Preferred experience working with professional associations or in community outreach/engagement roles, project administration, volunteer leadership, and maintaining customer databases (CRM softwares).</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in giving public presentations or speaking activities.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Able to analyze data and provide keen insights</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Excellent member and customer service focus with the ability to influence and/or persuade stakeholders. Must be diplomatic, team-oriented, and sensitive to the needs of members and staff to work across a large organization, secure resources, build relationships and identify opportunities is essential.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Creative approaches to problem-solving.
