Differentiated Pay

Overview: <br /> <div>Direct, oversee, and lead SHRM&rsquo;s research activities, including but not limited to SHRM&rsquo;s Competency model, Benchmarking Service, Leading Indicators of National Employment (LINE), People Insight, SHRM&rsquo;s Survey Program and international research initiatives. Identify workplace research areas of relevance to HR, C-suite executives, business leaders. Identify and develop an overarching strategy for research and thought leadership (TL). Provide TL and communicate results of research and outside HR research to SHRM's membership, staff, boards, academic community, and other national groups and organizations. Identify and build relationships with corporate and academic research partners, negotiate partnership terms and contracts. Develop and execute collaborative opportunities with SHRM Foundation and all SHRM affiliates. Serve as a spokesperson for SHRM and give speeches as appropriate.</div> <br /><br /> <div><strong>Work Environment:<br /><br /></strong>Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. Travel Required: Moderate 20-30%.</div>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Sit on the VP Council and coordinate work of the Research Department (and KD) with other operational leaders across the organization.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversee LINE and labor market research beyond LINE activities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Responsible for the continued development, execution, and generation of SHRM&rsquo;s customized Human Capital Benchmarking Service.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide strategy and for SHRM&rsquo;s survey program including People Insight and Customized Research activities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversee Workplace Trends and Forecasting program and use it as a platform for thought leadership for the HR field.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversee and provide strategic leadership for the SHRM HR Competency initiative, including criterion validation, self-assessment, and the development of ancillary products and services coordinating with other departments within SHRM including Certification and Professional Development.</li> <li>Plan, develop, and implement the financial administration of and budgetary needs for SHRM Research. Responsible for forecasting and generating revenue for SHRM via customized benchmarking service, People Insight, and other revenue avenues. Identify other opportunities for revenue generation such grant opportunities and sponsorships of research.</li> <li>Serve as a spokesperson for SHRM at press conferences and other media events as appropriate, and present to a diverse group of audiences (e.g., HR professionals, CEOs, other business leaders, academics, etc.).</li> <li>Collaborate with and support internal departments such as Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Marketing, International Programs, Membership, Professional Development, Editorial, Advertising Sales, and all SHRM affiliates.</li> <li>Develop and execute collaborative opportunities with the SHRM Foundation by working closely with its Executive Director.</li> <li>Conduct international research that will support SHRM&rsquo;s globalization efforts. Work closely with partners in India, China, UAE, and other offices to facilitate research projects, translation of survey instruments, and implement visibility opportunities.</li> <li>Identify and create research that will inform SHRM about its market and governmental policies and inform SHRM&rsquo;s senior management team of such data and how it might impact the organization&rsquo;s strategy.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide internal thought leadership and direction on how/when/where SHRM can best be seen as a Thought Leader in HR; Engage external thought.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <div> <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree through a doctoral degree in the field of HR/IO or a related field is strongly preferred.</li> <li>At least 5 to 8 years experience working in an association/membership organization environment preferred. Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience and leadership in research administration, preferably involving areas of corporate research.&nbsp;</li> <li>Prior supervisory experience required</li> <li>Thorough understanding of statistics and research methods.&nbsp;</li> <li>Understanding of statistics and statistical methods.&nbsp;</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to seek and gain new partnerships and business development opportunities.
