Overview: <br />The Manager, Educational Programs manages the development, execution, strategic direction and is accountable for meeting and growing the revenue for this $12M SHRM Educational Programs business. This includes synchronous virtual and face-to-face delivery and blended learning experiences delivered through SHRM&rsquo;s Specialty Credential Program. The manager will be responsible for designing effective budget models for the Educational Programs business, analyzing financial information to ensure all operations are within budget, and presenting the budgets on a regular basis. The manager uses data and research to drive decisions for program topics, locations, and mode of delivery. The Manager is expected to understand and translate adult learning principles and trends to drive continued innovation of SHRM's Education business.<br /><br /> <p><strong>Work Environment:<br /><br /></strong>Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. Travel Required: Moderate 20-30%.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Key decision maker in all facets of business and educational programs (face to face, virtual, and corporate synchronous programs) as well as programs conducted at SHRM events.</li> <li>Develops, maintains, and regularly evaluates and reports on the monthly and annual budget for SHRM Educational Programs. Responsible for and oversees the financial management of the seminars business, including specialty credentials by developing annual and monthly budgets, monitoring budget variances and forecasts, and planning appropriate adjustments to maintain and grow profit margins.</li> <li>Leads team in management of all in-person and virtual program logistics and activities as well as all vendor relations (including negotiating contract and service terms).</li> <li>Directs team management of program instructor contract negotiations</li> <li>Advise on course curriculum to the Society's overall mission to promote business literacy and support the human resource profession, including using data analysis and market intelligence to identify topics, trends, and learning models for new educational programming.</li> <li>Management and oversight of effectiveness evaluation of existing programs, attendee satisfaction. Use data analysis to identify the need for new topics based on market research, member surveys, program evaluations, and alignment with SHRM's competency model across all career levels.</li> <li>Manages, coach and develop a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities to support and grow the SHRM Educational Programs business</li> <li>Oversight responsibility for development and execution of the full program schedule. Work with Educational Programs Specialists to identify program dates, locations, and instructor assignments for optimal performance using data analysis and past performance trends.</li> <li>Lead the collaboration between the education team and the events team, marketing department, and other internal stakeholders on venue selection, promotional materials, financial accountabilities, and more.</li> <li>Oversees enrollment management issues, troubleshoots, and resolves customer-related and technology issues.</li> <li>Works with Educational Program Specialist team to lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on program and website messaging and aligning it with target audience segments/partners.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field, or 8+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources, Education, and/or Training</li> <li>Minimum of 8 years of experience in business management that include building and managing large budgets, accountability to revenue goals, and strategic initiatives is required.</li> <li>Experience in project and program management, proven stakeholder management and people management skills, expertise in developing project plans and processes.</li> <li>Experience utilizing business intelligence to make data-driven decisions.</li> <li>Experience with virtual learning platforms and virtual program delivery.</li> <li>Ability to develop and manage budgets, financial analysis, and reporting</li> <li>Ability to manage and develop a team</li> <li>Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, decision-making, and strategic thinking; familiarity with forecasting methods and data analysis</li> <li>Customer service oriented; stakeholder management skills</li> <li>Ability to work in a high-paced environment</li> <li>Ability to innovate and manage risks effectively</li> <li>Strong negotiating, collaboration, and team-building skills</li> <li>Knowledge of Virtual Training Environments</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, including editing, writing, and verbal skills</li> <li>Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, budgeting and financial analysis platforms and database applications</li> <li>Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects on time</li> <li>Ability to work positively with partners in coalitions, in teams, and independently</li> <li>Knowledge and proficiency in adult learning principles as well as the instructional design process - analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation is preferred</li> <li>Candidates must have a proven commitment to SHRM's six Guiding Principles:</li> <ul> <li>Bold Purpose</li> <li>Excellence &amp; Accountability&nbsp;</li> <li>Flexibility &amp; Agility&nbsp;</li> <li>Smart &amp; Curious&nbsp;</li> <li>Collaborative Openness</li> <li>Push Back to Move Forward&nbsp;</li> </ul> </ul> <p><strong><br />Physical Requirements:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.</li> <li>Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing.
