Overview: <br />The Specialist, Financial Planning &amp; Analysis plays a critical role in SHRM&rsquo;s overall strategy by ensuring that SHRM&rsquo;s business units meet financial and operational targets, achieve revenue growth, and using data to highlight opportunities for improvement and/or cost saving. This high-paced position works collaboratively with key budget owners and budget liaisons, supporting budget development, financial and performance reporting for multiple departments within the organization. The Financial Planning &amp; Analysis specialist also performs multiple monthly closing activities and works closely with the Accounting department on all matters pertaining to Finance &amp; Accounting.<br /><br /> <div><strong>Work Environment:<br /><br /></strong>Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%.</div>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Prepare and maintain key performance indicators (KPI) reports and operational dashboards for products and services across the entire organization.</li> <li>Provide close support for the design, development, implementation and management of the annual budget, and its monthly rolling forecast activities by collaborating closely with budget liaisons and product owners.</li> <li>Generate monthly budget variance reports, research and review budget discrepancies and financial statements&rsquo; errors with product owners, and record corrective journal entries for adjustment in SHRM&rsquo;s financial system (NetSuite). &nbsp;</li> <li>Create and analyze reports (i.e., NetSuite saved searches) to answer questions, identify issues, and develop short and long-term solutions in support of the organization&rsquo;s operational and growth strategies.</li> <li>Perform month-end closing procedures and maintain accurate financial statements for the Division and its departments by accruing expenses in the months they incur, and revenues in the months they are earned.</li> <li>Process vendor invoices, and purchase orders (P.O.).</li> <li>Work autonomously to ensure Financial Statements, KPI and other reports are presented free of error and in a timely manner.</li> <li>Train budget owners and staff on the budget/rolling forecast process.</li> <li>Other duties and projects as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>Education:<br /><br /></strong></p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.</li> </ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>MBA or other advanced business degree.</li> </ul> <p><br /><br /><strong>Experience:</strong><br /><br /></p> <h4>Required:</h4> <ul> <li>Three or more years of professional experience in a finance or business operations related role.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in budget creation, report generation, accounts reconciliation, financial and operational analytics.</li> <li>Familiarity and comfort with the Accounting Cycle.</li> </ul> <h4>&nbsp;</h4> <h4>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:</h4> <ul> <li>Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines and perform in a high-speed environment.</li> <li>Excellent presentation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.</li> <li>Strong analytical and organizational skills with very good attention to detail.</li> <li>Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.</li> <li>Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounts reconciliation process, and revenue and payment reconciliation activities.</li> <li>Advanced Accounting and Finance software.</li> <li>Advanced Microsoft Office software applications skills&mdash;MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.</li> <li>Experience with data reporting and visualization software, such as Tableau.</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and build consensus across teams and various levels of management.</li> </ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with financial software including NetSuite, Salesforce, Adaptive Planning and NetSuite Planning &amp; Budgeting.</li> </ul> <h1>&nbsp;</h1> <p><strong>Physical Requirements:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.</li> <li>Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing.
