Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing complex support to the general ledger team in ensuring timely execution of month-end close and day-to-day accounting activities for the Society of Human Resource Management and its affiliates and subsidiaries.<br /><br /> <p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.</li> <li>Expected travel is 0-10% of the time.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform daily activities in the accounting systems, including but not limited to performing month-end analysis and reconciliation for cash, accounts receivables, prepaids, revenue, and deferred revenues.</li> <li>Prepares journal entries for key financial statement line items as assigned and ensures proper accompanying documentation is attached in NetSuite.</li> <li>Perform detailed account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of assigned balance sheet accounts.</li> <li>Reconcile high volume of cash receipts (checks/wires/ACHs/credit card transactions) involving multiple bank accounts, merchant accounts, and various billing systems.</li> <li>Perform the bank reconciliation process for multiple bank accounts.</li> <li>Reconcile and manage prepaid and deferred expenses and its proper allocations.</li> <li>Maintain accurate inventory count of SHRM by identifying, investigating, and correcting the inventory records. Participates in year-end inventory audit.</li> <li>Prepares schedules in support of SHRM&rsquo;s external consolidated financial audit.</li> <li>Assist in the evaluation and testing of modified accounting systems or external databases used by other Departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial output.</li> <li>Complete ad hoc reports and reconciliations upon request.</li> <li>Other duties and projects as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <div class="job-posting-section"> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting preferred.</li> <li>Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a complex, non-for-profit organization (a multi-structured organization requiring consolidations accounting) or a public accounting firm.</li> <li>Familiar with all elements of financial operation and their impact on the general ledger.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>Certifications:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>CPA preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <h4><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting terminology, accounting procedures.</li> <li>Strong understanding of the concepts &amp; principles of ACS 606 Revenue Recognition</li> <li>Comprehensive knowledge of NetSuite ERP system required.</li> <li>Advanced Microsoft (MS) Excel skills required.</li> <li>Adaptive Planning budgeting system experience preferred.</li> <li>Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, including call-out of internal controls.</li> <li>Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.</li> <li>Ability to maintain good working relationships with the other departments and external customers.</li> <li>Self-disciplined and capable of completing job duties in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and good decision-making skills.</li> <li>Complete tasks within critical deadlines.</li> <li>Maintain highest level of confidentiality.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.</li> <li>Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.</li> </ul> <p><br /><br /></p> <p>The hiring range for this position is $82,000 to $105,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
