Intern (Full Time)

$20.00/Hour.

Overview: <p>SHRM&rsquo;s paid, cohort-based summer internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through various tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will develop and demonstrate their skills and abilities by contributing to meaningful and purposeful projects and tasks. Additionally, SHRM interns participate in professional development programs to prepare for a future career in their desired field. The Human Resources intern will work on key projects and initiatives with the Human Resources team.</p> <p>This opportunity is a paid internship starting at&nbsp;$20.00/Hour.</p> <p>This is a 10 week summer internship from June 6, 2024 - August 4, 2024.&nbsp;<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>SHRM does operate under a hybrid work schedule and will require you to be in SHRM&rsquo;s headquarters in Alexandria, VA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays will be working remotely.</li> <li>Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul type="disc"> <li>Apply formal learning theories into day-to-day practice and actively contribute innovative and creative solutions to improve HR department programs and initiatives.&nbsp;</li> <li>Perform human resources management duties to gain experience while supporting key employee experience and talent management deliverables.</li> <li>Build valuable relationships with internal and external stakeholders through collaborative work.</li> <li>Under the supervision of the internship supervisor, plan and organize deliverables and provide regular updates on progress, successes, and challenges.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul type="disc"> <li>referred majors: pursuing a bachelor&rsquo;s in human resources, industrial and organizational psychology, business administration, and other related fields</li> <li>0-3 years of relevant work experience</li> </ul> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.&nbsp;</li> <li>Possess an inclusive mindset when considering other&rsquo;s viewpoints and the ability to interact and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization.</li> <li>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.</li> <li>Organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.</li> <li>Attention to detail and accuracy with a commitment to excellence.</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other commonly used communication and collaboration platforms.</li> <li>Ability to exercise tact and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.</li> <li>Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills</li> <li>Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.</li> <li>Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribe, view a computer terminal; extensive reading.</li> </ul>
