Overview: <p>The SHRM Foundation is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm of the world's largest HR professional society, SHRM. The SHRM Foundation mobilizes and equips HR professionals to lead positive social change so that all talent and workplaces can prosper and thrive. The Foundation&rsquo;s work is organized in three main pools:</p> <ol> <li>Widening pathways to work for all, including particularly those without a degree and untapped pools of talent such as people with disabilities, justice-impacted individuals, and military connected people;</li> <li>Strengthening and diversifying the HR field, including through scholarships, grants, awards, mentorship, fellowship, and mental health support; and</li> <li>Helping employers understand and create the conditions that comprehensively support their workforce by creating mentally healthy environments, ensuring job quality, and addressing wrap-around social barriers that make it harder for employers and employees to thrive together.</li> </ol> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>Summary:</strong></h4> <p>The Specialist, Foundation Programs (Specialist) is a dynamic and proven individual who collaborates with the Program Manager, Untapped Pools, and other Program leads to administer and evaluate SHRM Foundation&rsquo;s programming.</p> <p>The Specialist engages and stewards HR professionals and partners in developing and/or participating in our programmatic offerings while supporting the Program Managers in implementation and evaluation. This position provides support on specific programmatic projects as assigned, including assisting on overall project development, implementation, management, and support. The Specialist is accountable for supporting engagement with appropriate SHRM business units to drive strong, positive relationships to the benefit of SHRM Foundation&rsquo;s stakeholders.</p> <p>This position will predominantly focus on the aspects of the Foundation&rsquo;s work addressing untapped pools of talent&mdash;a body of work that currently centers on five populations: military-connected populations, people with disabilities, justice-impacted individuals, opportunity youth, and older workers. We are seeking individuals with prior work and/or lived experience within one or more of those populations and a background in HR, workforce or talent pipeline strategies.</p> <p>The Specialist should demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for program articulation; systems development; relationship management with our customers, subject matter experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders as we develop and implement our programmatic offerings; and support for coalitions, communities of practice or affiliate networks. Under the direction of Manager, Foundation Programs, this position contributes to the success of activities of the untapped talent portfolio and assists in ensuring success in program quality and project timelines, tasks, and responsibilities.<br /><br /></p> <h4><strong>Work Environment:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.</li> <li>This position is an in-office position, with a requirement to work in-person at the Alexandria, VA, offices of SHRM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week within core business hours, as well as at germane conferences and convenings. This status is subject to change.</li> <li><strong>Travel:</strong>&nbsp;Travel up to 20% of the time for conference and convening attendance.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Drives and executes the implementation of aspects of the Foundation&rsquo;s untapped pools portfolio of programs, research, convenings, and communications.</li> <li>Works on the implementation of projects within the untapped pools portfolio as assigned, including cross-team coordination, timelining, budget tracking, and, in collaboration with the Program Manager, the Director of Programs and evaluation team.</li> <li>Provides support and coordination in the development of annual and monthly operational plans.</li> <li>Executes tasks within program projects upon request and with guidance.</li> <li>Provides supplemental support for other untapped pools-related efforts, including in the other pools of work the Foundation leads.</li> <li>Prepares materials for staff to engage with subject matter partners, industry experts, consultants, partner institutions, funders, and recipients in a professional and competent manner.</li> <li>Collaborates with other departments within SHRM to ensure integration of program plans to strategic objectives and alignment to audience segments.</li> <li>Tracks and oversees project tasks, program budgets, contract development and compliance.</li> <li>Contributes to program strategy and general program administration.</li> <li>Participates in the management of vendor relationships directly impacting SHRM Foundation programs.</li> <li>Collaborates with Programs team to develop donor solicitation ideas and proposals, participate in donor meetings as needed, and track the fulfillment of donor commitments related to the SHRM Foundation&rsquo;s programs and initiatives.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Education:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Germane degree and non-degree credentials or other verifications of skills and competencies will be considered.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Experience:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>At least three (3) years of experience. Preferred experience in HR or talent management strategies, membership associations or nonprofit organizations. Specific focus on HR talent acquisition, retention programming, communications and public relations, and project management of products, and events/convenings.</li> <li>Prior work and/or lived experience within one or more of the untapped pools populations, preferred, background in workforce and talent pipeline development. Preferred understanding of broader processes for creating employer-inclusive movements and managing change.</li> <li>Demonstrated aptitude in written and verbal communications, program/project management, collaboration, budget management, and volunteer, board member, and donor management.</li> </ul> <br /> <h4><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:</strong><br /><br /></h4> <ul> <li>Resourceful, solutions-focused problem solver who sees challenges as opportunities to build innovative solutions.</li> <li>Highly organized, with the ability to interface regularly with colleagues and other partners.</li> <li>Proficient at working cross-functionally and collaboratively across departments and with separate partners and stakeholders.</li> <li>Detail-oriented, with appreciation and understanding of the bigger picture. Ability to synthesize information from different sources quickly and efficiently.</li> <li>Commitment to collaborating and working across teams to advance common goals and handle multiple complex assignments.</li> <li>Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals and to initiate and build relationships with members, customers, vendors and interact via telephone, virtual meeting and in person with different stakeholders.</li> <li>Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.</li> <li>Excellent organizational planning, presentation, and professional writing skills in English.</li> <li>Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as database.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>Physical Requirements:<br /><br /></strong></h4> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.</li> </ul> <br /><em>The hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $83,000 per year.
