Overview: <p>The <strong>Learning Solutions</strong> Product Manager manages the development, delivery, performance, and continuous improvement of SHRM&rsquo;s professional learning products. This role translates approved product strategies, customer needs, and validated concepts into high-quality, relevant, and scalable learning experiences that address the evolving needs of HR professionals and organizations.</p> <p>Reporting to the <strong>Senior Director, Professional Development Products</strong>, the Product Manager manages assigned learning products throughout the product lifecycle, from development and launch through ongoing optimization and enhancement. The role works cross-functionally with Product Strategy &amp; Portfolio, Instructional Design, Audience, Marketing, Technology/LXP, Operations, and other partners to bring new learning solutions to market, strengthen existing offerings, and deliver high-quality learner experiences.<br /><br /></p> <h4><strong>Work Environment:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office/2 Days Remote).</li> <li>This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote.&nbsp; Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00&ndash;9:00 a.m. and concluding between 5:00&ndash;6:00 p.m. local time.</li> <li>Travel: Occasional 0 &ndash; 10%.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Product Development &amp; Delivery</strong></p> <ul> <li>Translate approved concepts, product strategies, and priorities into clear product requirements, development plans, delivery models, and launch-ready offerings.</li> <li>Lead the development and launch of assigned learning products, ensuring solutions address defined audience needs, business objectives, learning outcomes, scalability, and operational feasibility.</li> <li>Define and manage product requirements, milestones, timelines, dependencies, risks, success measures, and implementation plans.</li> <li>Partner with Instructional Design, subject matter experts, instructors, and other stakeholders to develop engaging, relevant, accessible, and effective learning experiences.</li> <li>Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness across Marketing, Audience, Technology/LXP, Operations, Sales, and other partners.</li> <li>Monitor development progress, identify risks and barriers, and drive resolution to support successful and timely product launches.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Product Lifecycle Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage ongoing performance, quality, relevance, and learner experience of assigned products throughout the product lifecycle.</li> <li>Analyze utilization, learner and customer feedback, financial and product performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.</li> <li>Develop and maintain product roadmaps, content refresh plans, review cycles, and enhancement priorities.</li> <li>Recommend product updates, enhancements, repositioning, consolidation, or sunset actions based on performance, audience needs, and market conditions.</li> <li>Lead the implementation of approved enhancements to content, delivery methods, learning journeys, and learner experiences.</li> <li>Establish and monitor appropriate product success measures and use results to inform ongoing product decisions and improvements.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Learning Experience &amp; Quality</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop learning solutions that address the evolving needs of HR professionals at different career stages and levels of responsibility.</li> <li>Ensure learning products reflect the current HR environment, relevant research and best practices, adult-learning principles, instructional design standards, and accessibility requirements.</li> <li>Develop and manage solutions across digital, instructor-led, cohort-based, blended, and other appropriate learning modalities.</li> <li>Partner with Technology/LXP teams to support platform delivery, integrations, reporting, functionality, and the overall learner experience.</li> <li>Identify opportunities to improve consistency, accessibility, usability, and effectiveness of learning experiences across products and delivery channels.</li> <li>Explore and incorporate AI and emerging learning technologies to improve personalization, scalability, learner engagement, and outcomes.</li> <li>Ensure consistent product quality and learner experience across delivery channels and audience segments.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Cross-Functional Execution &amp; Stakeholder Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead cross-functional execution of assigned learning product development, launch, and enhancement initiatives.</li> <li>Partner with Product Strategy &amp; Portfolio to provide feasibility, delivery, customer, market, and performance insights that inform product and portfolio decisions.</li> <li>Incorporate audience, organizational buyer, learner, instructor, and other stakeholder feedback into product development and continuous improvement plans.</li> <li>Partner with Marketing and Sales to provide accurate product information, positioning inputs, value propositions, and launch and sales enablement support.</li> <li>Manage relationships and deliverables with vendors, contractors, instructors, and subject matter experts supporting assigned products.</li> <li>Facilitate cross-functional working sessions and maintain alignment on responsibilities, dependencies, decisions, timelines, and next steps.</li> <li>Maintain visibility into product progress, risks, decisions, performance, and outcomes and communicate relevant information to stakeholders and leadership.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <h4><strong>Education:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in product management, education, instructional design, learning and development, business, human resources, or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree.</li> </ul> <br /> <h4><strong>Experience:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Seven (7) or more <strong>years of progressive experience</strong> in product management, professional learning, instructional design, learning and development, or a related discipline.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience developing, launching, managing, and improving professional learning products, programs, or solutions.</li> <li>Experience translating customer and learner needs and product direction into requirements, development plans, delivery models, and scalable offerings.</li> <li>Experience managing products or solutions through multiple stages of the product lifecycle.</li> <li>Experience developing or managing learning products across digital, instructor-led, cohort-based, blended, or other learning modalities.</li> <li>Experience working with learning technologies, learning experience platforms, or digital learning environments.</li> <li>Experience managing complex, cross-functional product development or implementation initiatives.</li> <li>Experience managing vendors, contractors, instructors, or subject matter experts.</li> <li>Experience using learner feedback, customer insights, product data, and market information to inform product decisions and improvements.</li> <li>Experience in an association, professional education, membership, or knowledge-based organization preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <h4><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of product management, adult learning, instructional design, digital learning, and product lifecycle practices.</li> <li>Understanding of the professional development needs of HR professionals and organizational buyers.</li> <li>Ability to translate approved product strategies, customer needs, and learning objectives into clear product requirements, development plans, and executable solutions.</li> <li>Strong project and product management skills, including the ability to establish priorities, manage timelines and dependencies, identify risks, and drive work to completion.</li> <li>Ability to interpret learner feedback, customer insights, product performance, and market data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.</li> <li>Strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Strong cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, and stakeholder management skills.</li> <li>Ability to influence and build alignment across teams without direct authority.</li> <li>Ability to independently manage multiple products and development initiatives with competing priorities.</li> <li>Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.</li> <li>Ability to create structure and clarity and move work forward in an evolving environment.</li> <li>Practical understanding of AI and emerging technologies and the ability to apply them appropriately to product development, learning experiences, scalability, and work quality.
