Overview: The Director, Administrative Services provides leadership and direction over the planning and management of SHRM&rsquo;s real estate, facilities, environmental health, safety and security services; travel process and policy; equipment and supply procurement; and business continuity procedures. The Director works with Senior Leadership as a strategic real estate partner to determine and continually assess corporate space, capital resources, lease opportunities, and administrative activities to optimize and meet the long-term needs of the organization. Provides leadership to internal and external teams supporting facilities management and general administration for the organization.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Under the direction of CEO, Chief of Staff and CFO, the Director of Administrative Services develops and executes SHRM&rsquo;s real estate and facilities management strategies to optimize capital resources for the organization.</li> <li>Manage physical environment of the organization&rsquo;s facilities from curb to interiors ensuring that facilities and related services meet business needs. This includes managing construction and other large projects, managing staff and third parties to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, ensuring that available lease space is occupied, and lessees are performing on their lease obligations, and obtaining and managing third party leases and off-site facilities globally as required.</li> <li>Responsible for developing budgets and long-range facilities plans based on company growth and future needs.</li> <li>Identifies revenue-generating opportunities and supports lease negotiation and administration directly and through legal and brokerage third parties.</li> <li>Oversees SHRM&rsquo;s business continuity and disaster recovery program through planning, mitigation, training and expertise to ensure organizational resiliency during times of disruptions.</li> <li>Oversee the operation of the central purchasing operation from the Request for Proposal process through the purchase.</li> <li>Manages corporate contracts with service providers for facilities and security administration, construction, corporate business travel, and other services and ensuring high quality service, timeliness, and compliance.</li> <li>Represent the organization&rsquo;s interests to local government and civic organizations, ensuring adherence to local property laws and representing the organization as a good neighbor.</li> <li>Coach, mentor and develop the administrative services team, and oversee contract workers to ensure effective delivery of contracted services.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Education &amp; Experience Requirements</strong><br /><br />Required<br /> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent10 years of experience with Commercial Real Estate Management, procurement, risk management and budget management.</li> </ul> <br />Preferred<br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree</li> <li>Experience with construction management and planning, insurance (COI&rsquo;s) and business continuity planning</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Strong communication skills and ability to interact at all levels of the organization and externally, including delivering presentations</li> <li>Working knowledge and understanding of blueprints</li> <li>Knowledge of basic architectural concepts and terms</li> <li>Working knowledge of insurance terms and concepts related to COI&rsquo;s for vendors</li> <li>Strong negotiation skills</li> <li>Ability to work with a wide and varied client base and/or a wide variety of projects</li> <li>Ability to oversee third parties and contract workers.</li> <li>Proficient knowledge of OHSA regulations, compliance, and guidelines</li> </ul>
