This role ensures that Subzero Engineering employees and lower tier subcontractors perform work safely and in compliance with OSHA, company policies, and site-specific safety plans.<br /><br />The Safety Coordinator identifies, corrects, documents, and communicates jobsite hazards within the Company&rsquo;s scope of work and coordinates corrective actions with the EHS Manager and GC when hazards affect other trades or shared work areas.<br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Conduct daily safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and operations</li> <li>Identify, correct, and document hazards related to fall protection, elevated work, material handling, rigging, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, forklifts, and telehandlers</li> <li>Immediately address unsafe conditions involving personnel or equipment</li> <li>Coordinate hazard mitigation with the EHS Manager and GC safety team when issues impact other trades or shared spaces</li> <li>Enforce compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, company safety policies, and GC Site Specific Safety Plans</li> <li>Support implementation of subcontractor safety programs and GC safety requirements</li> <li>Participate in incident, injury, and near miss investigations and ensure timely reporting</li> <li>Assist with Job Hazard Analyses and Activity Hazard Analyses</li> <li>Support emergency response procedures as directed</li> <li>Conduct or assist with safety orientations, task specific briefings, and toolbox talks</li> <li>Verify required training, certifications, and operator qualifications</li> <li>Maintain inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and corrective action tracking</li> <li>Maintain regular and reliable attendance</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned</li> </ul>
Requirements: Authority<br /> <ul> <li>Authorized to stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed</li> <li>Authorized to require corrective actions prior to work resuming</li> <li>Escalate unresolved or site wide hazards to the GC safety management team immediately</li> </ul> <br />Safety Requirements<br /> <ul> <li>Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures</li> <li>Report unsafe conditions promptly</li> <li>Attend required safety training</li> <li>Support safety goals and recommend improvements</li> <li>Follow safe work practices, including ergonomics, PPE use, and lockout procedures</li> </ul> <br />Minimum Requirements<br /> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred</li> <li>Two to five years of construction safety experience, preferably in a subcontractor environment</li> <li>OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification required</li> <li>OSHA 510 or 511, or equivalent training, preferred</li> <li>Demonstrated competency in hazard recognition within the Company&rsquo;s scope of work</li> <li>Understanding of GC controlled jobsite safety coordination</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills</li> <li>Ability to professionally enforce safety requirements in the field</li> <li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license with ability to pass initial and annual DMV review</li> <li>Experience in Microsoft Office and construction-related tracking and reporting software.</li> </ul> <br />Physical Requirements<br /> <ul> <li>Must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:</li> <li>Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods</li> <li>Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds</li> <li>Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on active construction sites</li> <li>Exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, moving equipment, and environmental irritants</li> <li>Ability to kneel, crawl, twist, reach, and use hands and fingers without restriction</li> </ul>
