SpringWorks&rsquo; strategic approach and operational excellence in clinical development have enabled it to rapidly advance its two lead product candidates into late-stage clinical trials while simultaneously entering into multiple shared-value partnerships with industry leaders to expand its portfolio.</p> </div> <p><strong>About the Role:</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Head of Drug Discovery, the Director, Protein and Molecular Modeling will influence all aspects of the drug discovery process including target selection, hit identification and lead optimization via their extensive expertise in computational methods.&nbsp; As a senior member of the Research &amp; Development team, this individual will foster a culture of scientific excellence, rigorous innovation, collaboration and teamwork.&nbsp; This individual will be responsible for designing and leading high-impact drug discovery initiatives and delivering high quality development candidates.&nbsp; In addition, this role will lead strategic initiatives within the Drug Discovery function such as new target selection, addition of new capabilities, etc.&nbsp; This individual will also function as a subject matter expert, providing input to Discovery Biology &amp; Translational Medicine, Strategy &amp; Business Development and multi-disciplinary Drug Discovery Project Teams.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Responsibilities Include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in the areas of computational sciences, protein structure/function and computer-aided drug discovery.</li> <li>Support new target selection for Discovery programs with protein structural analysis and application of state-of-the-art computational tools.</li> <li>Assume a scientific leadership role, designing, advising and/or leading drug discovery projects, collaborating with cross-functional leads to drive programs from target selection through development candidate nomination.</li> <li>Lead strategic initiatives within the Drug Discovery function.</li> <li>Manage internal and/or external (contract research organization) resources to deliver data and analyses in an efficient manner.</li> <li>Establish and communicate priorities and timelines for experimental work, applying new approaches to optimize processes and identify efficiencies to accelerate progress against corporate goals.</li> <li>Model SpringWorks Leadership Principles to drive a collaborative function that embraces change and drives excellence while providing coaching and mentoring to team.</li> <li>Develop new intellectual property; co-author patent applications and/or peer-reviewed publications.</li> <li>As directed, represent SpringWorks Drug Discovery both internally and externally.</li> <li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.</li> </ul> <br /><br />
Requirements: <p><strong>About You: Required Education, Skills, and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Education: PhD or MS in computational sciences or a closely related field.</li> <li>Ph. D., plus 7 or more years of computational sciences experience in biotech/pharma with a clear track record of applying computational technologies and computer-aided drug design to advance projects into clinical development.</li> <li>MS., plus 9 or more years of computational sciences experience in biotech/pharma with a clear track record of applying computational technologies and computer-aided drug design to advance projects into clinical development.</li> <li>Deep knowledge of computational sciences principles and practice.</li> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in molecular and protein modeling/dynamics, Virtual Ligand Screening, Machine Learning, etc.</li> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in computer-aided drug design.</li> <li>Experience across the drug discovery spectrum from target selection to Development Candidate nomination.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of protein-ligand interactions and application of this knowledge in Structure-Based Drug Design (SBDD).</li> <li>Willing to take a hands-on approach and do what is necessary for project advancement.</li> <li>Effective supervision and mentoring of more junior staff.</li> <li>Ability to manage internal and/or external teams to maximize productivity.</li> <li>Ability to generate buy-in and cooperation from colleagues outside reporting line and collaborate with cross-functional team members.</li> <li>Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication and managerial skills; able to motivate and inspire others.</li> <li>Self-motivated and influential leader with a strong record of accomplishment in computational sciences and project leadership.</li> <li>Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate technical and cross-functional data to diverse audiences in a fast-paced, innovative drug discovery environment.</li> <li>Relocation available.</li> </ul> <p>The expected salary range for this position is $178,800.00 - $235,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
