Responsibilities: <p><strong>Responsibilities: </strong></p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Oncology nurses play a significant part in the health care team, as he or she works in all aspects of cancer care.</li> <li>Oncology nurses integrate their technical skills, scientific knowledge, and caring attitude to aid those living with cancer, including their families &ndash; starting from diagnosis, treatment, then survivor-ship to end-of-life care.</li> <li>Oncology nurses assume a variety of roles when providing care for patients with cancer.</li> <li>From being an educator for family members to administration of patient treatment, nurses working for cancer patients should possess a broad range of clinical skills to be effective in the workplace. While most oncology nurses find employment in hospitals, others are employed in outpatient facilities.</li> <li>Review your health history</li> <li>Assess and monitor your physical and emotional status</li> <li>Keep track of your laboratory, pathology and imaging studies</li> <li>Safely administer medications, fluids and cancer treatments (e.g., chemotherapy)</li> <li>Collaborate with your doctors and other clinicians about your treatment plan</li> <li>Help you understand the disease, your treatment plan and possible side effects</li> <li>Help translate complex medical terminology and answer questions</li> <li>Communicate with your doctors on your behalf</li> <li>Help you plan for and manage symptoms throughout treatment</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>CA- RN - license in good standing</li> <li>2 years of current acute care / hospital experience</li> <li>Recent Travel experience</li> <li>Oncology /Chemo Certified</li> <li>Adult Chemotherapy, Oncology, Hematology and BMT experience</li> <li>BLS &ndash; Current</li> <li>2- Current- clinical references</li> <li>Current &ndash; Physical (within-12 months)</li> <li>Current &ndash; PPD (within- 12 months)</li> <li>Titers- MMR/Varicella/Hep A,B,C</li> <li>Tdap and Flu vaccine &ndash; current</li> <li>Respiratory fit testing (within 12 months)</li> <li>Must be able to pass a back ground screening</li> <li>Must be able to pass urine drug testing</li> </ul>
