Overview: <p><strong>The opportunity</strong></p> <p>Our client in North York is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to introduce governance and stewardship as you work closely with the Financial Controller and undertake a mission to reshape the organization for success. This is a career building move for someone who wants to be a catalyst for change as our client undergoes an exciting period of transformation.</p> <p><strong>Who you are</strong></p> <p>You are an accounts payable professional with five years of progressive experience working for a larger company with multiple locations across the country. Ideally, you have been a critical player in a system implementation with an ability to identify gaps and transitioning workflows from one system to another. You have exposure guiding a team through a period of rapid growth and change, and you want to take on those challenges again. You are passionate about growing your career, and you want broader responsibility with greater visual impact across the organization. While you are a process-driven person, you also possess great people skills and enjoy sharing best practices with internal teams.</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>As the new Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead A/P process improvement activities. You will identify opportunities, make recommendations and implement changes related to process improvement including systems and banking interfaces. You will develop, implement, and maintain systems, policies, and procedures relating to the AP function.</li> <li>Oversee. You will monitor and supervise all aspects of the Accounts Payable function including: <ul> <li>Priority payments to vendors.</li> <li>Monthly A/P reconciliation.</li> <li>Track and forecast DPO days for cash planning.</li> <li>Review vendor reconciliations to ensure variances are resolved in a timely manner.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Coach. You will provide daily guidance to the AP team. You will provide training and mentoring, discuss goals and job expectations, measure performance and conduct reviews.</li> <li>Communicate. You will respond to and resolve all internal and external AP inquiries. Liaise with other departments to ensure accurate and timely payments are within cash flow restraints.</li> <li>Report. You will provide weekly Accounts Payable aging reports and status on long-outstanding items. You will build and maintain monthly KPI&rsquo;s, monitor and analyze.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>The successful new Accounts Payable Supervisor will have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>The education. A degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA accreditation is an asset.</li> <li>The experience. You have 5+ years experience working in accounting, making day-to-day decisions and guiding a team. You have excellent knowledge of GAAP (ASPE). Exposure to tax regulations and payroll management would be a benefit.</li> <li>The technical skills. You have comfort with an ERP system, ideally Navision as well as MS Office.</li> <li>The business acumen. You are business savvy and have the ability to see the big picture regarding the company&rsquo;s overall business requirements. You can establish priorities and work towards achieving goals with minimal oversight. You are analytical, and you have well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.</li> <li>The leadership. You understand team dynamics; you can successfully engage individuals and guide team discussions. You can collaborate with peers and associates in other departments.</li> <li>The communication skills. You can build relationships and establish a level of trust and credibility internally and externally.
