Overview: The Test Automation Engineer on the Firmware Validation - Vehicle Test Execution team will be responsible for finding unique ways to automate and maintain regression tests on Tesla vehicles. The engineer will investigate the means of automating vehicle behaviors tests focused around body controls, lighting, HVAC, charging, and other system-level features on existing and new Tesla vehicle platforms. As firmware at Tesla is changing rapidly and is being released to customers at an unprecedented rate, the need to validate each release in an automated fashion is high priority.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work with other engineers and technicians to realize the best ways to integrate in-house and third-party hardware/software to interact with the vehicle platforms</li> <li>Spoof CAN signals to/from the vehicle</li> <li>Produce hardware solutions to physically interact with the vehicle and environment</li> <li>Produce efficient software for reliable automated tests</li> <li>Debug firmware and physical issues with existing vehicle platforms and automation hardware</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Strong Python skills for test automation</li> <li>Proficient in C/C++ for embedded devices</li> <li>1-2 years of experience with bringing up HIL testers and hardware automation platforms</li> <li>Strong hardware debugging skills (experience with relay and analog IO devices an asset)</li> <li>Knowledge of CAN architecture and automotive systems an asset</li> <li>Able to communicate ideas and issues clearly across the Firmware organization</li> <li>Preferred schematic development in Altium</li> <li>Preferred Mechatronics/CS/EE or equivalent engineering programs.</li> </ul>
