Overview: <p>We are currently hiring&nbsp;<a href="https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:f5e1149c-ec9e-4e1b-b90c-40959fad104a" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Job</strong><strong>&nbsp;Coaches</strong></a>&nbsp;to join our team at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. You will be supporting a small group (usually 1:3 ratio) of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at their work site. This is a food service operation on a military base where you and your team will be serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning the mess hall.&nbsp;The pay range for this position is $18.00-$18.15 + a hiring bonus of $1,500.</p> <p><strong>Who you are:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Believe in empowering individuals in living their most independent lives</li> <li>Are flexible and adaptable to different situations</li> <li>Have an educator mindset</li> <li>Take pride in being a reliable and inclusive member of a team</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <p>Providing culturally appropriate direct support to individuals using person-centered approaches and strategies including:</p> <ul> <li>Ensuring completion of work tasks as required by the employer and/or established procedures</li> <li>Providing on-going training to participants throughout the workday as needed</li> </ul> <p>Communicating effectively and professionally with employer and other employees at the work site</p> <p>Demonstrating appropriate work behaviors at all times</p> <p>Completion of electronic documentation prior to end of shifts</p>
Requirements: <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED)</li> <li>Valid CA Driver&rsquo;s License with clean driving record</li> <li>Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts to transport participants</li> <li>Comfort driving a full size van with multiple passengers</li> <li>Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs</li> <li>High comfort in using multiple computer /mobile device programs</li> <li>Ability to translate employer needs to individuals with disabilities</li> <li>Willingness to adhere to dress and appearance standards</li> <li>Comfort working at a&nbsp;<a href="https://youtu.be/3rloWiahaLI" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">high volume military site</a></li> </ul> <p><strong>We&rsquo;d love it if you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Had 6 or more months of prior hands-on experience with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities</li> <li>Are multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Tagalog)</li> <li>Have experience with electronic case management systems (Therap)</li> <li>Have experience with individual service plans (goal development)</li> <li>Were experienced and comfortable in handling the duties you will be teaching and supporting (food service, janitorial as examples)</li> </ul>
