Overview: The Arc is the largest, most comprehensive provider of services to children and adults with disabilities in San Diego County. You will be teaching people with intellectual and developmental disabilities new skills and improving their independence. Together, you may also go on outings, enjoying life out and about in the community. The hours for this position vary between Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. The pay range for this position is $18.00-$18.50. <br /> <br />This position is located in San Diego and you can pick up shifts around your schedule. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Providing culturally appropriate direct support to program participants using person-centered approaches and strategies that support clients to be fully engaged and included in each aspect of their daily life, have maximum choice and control, and gain independence.</li> </ul> <strong>This can take many forms in community or day center settings, including:</strong> <ul> <li>Support and motivation to reach individual goals and objectives.</li> <li>Engage and assist with meaningful activities that cater to the program participant&rsquo;s individual interests, preferences, and choices; teaching as necessary.</li> <li>Assistance with self-help needs including in the areas of grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding and mobility as needed.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>What you&rsquo;ll need to be successful:</strong></p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED)</li> <li>Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs.</li> </ul> <p><strong>We&rsquo;d love it if you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Are passionate about helping to empower others to reach goals and plans</li> <li>Had 6 or more months of prior hands-on experience with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities</li> </ul> <br /> <p>The Arc of San Diego is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
