Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Participate in the development, documentation, maintenance, and implementation of business plans, departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards as it relates to operating assigned systems.</li> <li>Complete process flows for business and system functions.</li> <li>Complete complex analyses for senior management in a timely manner and represent the assigned areas on departmental and corporate projects.</li> <li>Complete User Acceptance Testing for all major releases to include: development of test cases, scheduling, facilitation, pilot training, defect identification, reporting, and retesting resolutions.</li> <li>Conduct production validation for system releases.</li> <li>Participate in business readiness activities, including demonstrations of system functionality to Line of Business.</li> <li>Coordinate the configuration, installation, and testing of hardware and software.</li> <li>Monitor production applications and control access to corporate data to maintain data security and integrity.</li> <li>Function as the liaison between the business unit, vendor, and information systems regarding maintenance, business technology issues, operational problems, IS standards, and policies and procedures in order to support business unit strategic and operational goals and objectives.</li> <li>Participate in joint application development (&ldquo;JAD&rdquo;) sessions with IT as needed to develop, review, test, and approve business requirements and functional specifications.</li> <li>Serve as the highest level for analysis of system defects within the business unit.</li> <li>Investigate and analyze complex technical problems, identify defects and determine resolution.</li> <li>Design and test solutions in batch, online programs, and various system environments.</li> <li>Provide technical and analytical guidance to project team staff to ensure the development of innovative and effective recommendations when necessary.</li> <li>Oversee technical and non-technical employees in the design and implementation of business unit-specific systems.</li> <li>Provide consultative services from a business technology perspective for the department staff and external clients.</li> <li>Develop and facilitate training and learning activities to prepare department staff for working within assigned systems.</li> <li>Assist management with the coordination of a wide variety of projects and strategic initiatives aimed at increasing processing efficiencies, identifying issues, resolving problems, and implementing process improvements.</li> <li>Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as needed.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>Education:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business Administration, Insurance or a related field or equivalent work experience in related field</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Experience in/with:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Handling claims in a specific unit</li> <li>Analyzing, testing, documenting, implementing, and/or deployment of complex business systems and programs</li> <li>Organizing, controlling, monitoring, and reporting projects including providing work direction and guidance</li> <li>Analyzing information flow</li> <li>Designing business unit specific systems</li> <li>Planning, organizing, and training others on the development and implementation/deployment of technical or new application projects</li> <li>Analyzing and solving problems</li> <li>Developing security controls that may include disaster recovery plans for automated systems</li> <li>Investigating and resolving production problems</li> <li>Using operating systems (Windows, Netware, IPM, NT; and client/server database management systems)</li> <li>Coordinating support activities provided by multiple off-site vendors and internal departments</li> <li>Database administration including programming queries against relational databases and hierarchical database unload files (e.g. IMS)</li> <li>Utilizing PC software applications (e.g., Windows operating systems, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, VISIO, MS Project, Netware, IPM, NT, client/server database management systems, etc.) to format databases, write queries, generate reports, etc.</li> <li>Structured system analysis, design, and testing</li> <li>Systems development methodologies</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Knowledge of:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Essential Insurance Act</li> <li>Fair Trade Practice Act as it relates to claims</li> <li>One of the following business line specific claims software:</li> <li>APD: CCC/Territory Identification System/Vendor Locator All Regions</li> <li>PIP: Mitchell Decision Point</li> <li>Home: Xactware/Enservio</li> <li>Home/Auto: FACTS</li> <li>Claims quality standards for the specific business line</li> <li>Current claim operations and handling procedures for the specific business line</li> <li>Claims terminology and processing systems including but not limited to FACTS, CPS, IPM, Footprints</li> <li>Subrogation procedures</li> <li>Project management tools (e.g. issues log, risk assessment, project plans, etc.)</li> <li>Measurement tools for monitoring goal achievement</li> <li>Problem identification and resolution techniques</li> <li>Techniques used to develop reports as needed by line leaders</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Ability to:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Train or arrange training for claim representatives of varying levels of expertise</li> <li>Planning, organizing, and training others on the development and implementation of enhancements to business unit specific systems</li> <li>Manage license and transaction costs with Vendor Management and Procurement</li> <li>Analyze potential new products and vendors</li> <li>Analyze and summarize data</li> <li>Prepare ad-hoc reports</li> <li>Plan and control software updates</li> <li>Develop change management plans when new vendors are chosen</li> <li>Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills to include preparing proposals, reports, and technical writing (A writing sample may be required at time of interview)</li> <li>Prepare and present recommendations to all levels of management</li> <li>Work in a team environment</li> <li>Research, identify, and resolve business and technical problems</li> <li>Research and analyze industry benchmarks and make recommendations</li> <li>Analyze and define resource and skill requirements for projects</li> <li>Work well under pressure</li> <li>Evaluating complex systems and their interdependencies</li> <li>Troubleshoot user problems</li> <li>Plan hardware and software upgrades and improvements to the system</li> </ul> <br />Important Note: The above statements describe the principal and essential functions, but not all functions that may be inherent in the job.
