Responsibilities: <p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;">Gathers, organizes, analyzes, presents and disseminates data in support of Actuarial's analysis and reporting responsibilities to the Insurance Department (Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, Sales, Actuarial, etc.) and to NAII and other reporting bureaus. Completes research and recommends action regarding the various state insurance bureau directives. Completes independent research on competitor activities and other insurance topics. Maintains user systems and documentation for reporting systems within the Insurance Department and for statistical reporting.</span></p> <p style="font-weight: 300;"><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;">Serves as a liaison to internal departments including Field, Claims, Underwriting and Processing to ensure data and rating system quality and integrity. Represents the department in meetings and on project teams and leads departmental project teams. Analyzes and assesses the impact of changes in Underwriting, Sales, Processing or Claims procedures and/or systems on data and reporting requirements.</span></p>
Requirements: <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <p><strong><u>Education:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Professional insurance related coursework (AAN, IIA, IDMA, CPCU, or Actuarial Science).&nbsp;</li> <li>Technical training in personal computing (e.g. MSOffice Suite, Excel,&nbsp;PowerPoint, Word).</li> <li>College level coursework in accounting, mathematics, business or computer science. Associate's or Bachelor's degree.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Experience in:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Rating/underwriting/claims adjusting/systems processing.</li> <li>Designing, coding, implementing, testing or documenting internal automated systems and programs.</li> <li>Insurance industry.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Knowledge of:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Decision support systems and packages (e.g. SAS, Excel, Dynaplan).</li> <li>AAA Michigan and insurance industry processing systems (e.g., AAA IMS and Michigan Legacy Insurance, POC, CPS, FACTS, ALCAP, IPM, Guidewire).</li> <li>Auto Club Group and insurance industry products and services (e.g. auto, home, boat,&nbsp;Personal Umbrella, Club, insurance).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <p><strong><u>Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify):</u></strong></p> <p><strong><u>Education (include minimum education and any licensing/certifications):</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Experience:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Producing &amp; compiling reports for insurance department management and/or external agencies.</li> <li>Utilizing, reviewing and documenting internal automated systems, programs and processes.</li> <li>Analyzing requests for information to determine required data with appropriate staff to develop reporting, balancing and controls for Underwriting, Claims or Actuarial processes and/or other insurance department processes.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Knowledge and Skills:</u></strong></p> <p>Knowledge of property/casualty insurance to include:</p> <ul> <li>insurance filing requirements.</li> <li>Actuarial, Claims, Underwriting and other insurance department processes and procedures.</li> <li>industry practices.</li> <li>insurance publications and research data sources.</li> <li>competitor manuals and rating structures.</li> <li>statistical bulletins.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Ability to:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Plan, organize, gather, analyze and convert data from numerous sources to satisfy reporting requirements and deadlines.</li> <li>Analyze rate revisions and changes on all lines of business.</li> <li>Analyze and present information from research and statistical analysis to enhance corporate decision-making process.</li> <li>Perform analyses of automated/manual systems and processes.</li> <li>Communicate effectively with others in a work environment both orally and in writing.</li> <li>Analyze and solve business problems.</li> <li>Analyze insurance process impacts on NAII and other required reporting.</li> <li>Demonstrate effective communication skills to include oral and written communication as well as preparation of proposals.
