Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Prepares in-depth financial analyses and research to support and facilitate timely management decisions and/or financial reports or statements.</li> <li>Analyzes and evaluates financial implications of business decisions or transactions on financial results.</li> <li>Researches, evaluates, and interprets financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools.</li> <li>Develops and manipulates complex financial models for support and analysis of business initiatives.</li> <li>Works with departments to ensure an understanding of financial consequences resulting from various actions.</li> <li>Provides support for internal and external auditors by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and implementing recommended changes.</li> <li>Develops, designs, tests, and documents system changes or upgrades.</li> <li>Represents finance on corporate teams and initiatives.</li> <li>Performs complex reinsurance accounting, including, but not limited to, journal entries, analyzes and reconciles complex general ledger, and explains variances.</li> <li>Prepares and balances the insurance company Annual Statement supplemental schedules filed with the regulators.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.<strong><br /></strong></li> </ul> <br /><strong>Experience to include:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>5+ years experience in corporate accounting and finance</li> <li>Preparation and development of financial reports, charts, and presentations for executive-level management.</li> <li>Using automated accounting and/or management reporting systems</li> <li>Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting in-depth analyses of financial and statistical data</li> <li>Financial model development using Excel, Access, and/or other spreadsheet and data management applications</li> <li>Analyze, interpret, and report on financial and statistical information based on data collected from financial applications</li> <li>Use of PeopleSoft and/or other automated accounting systems</li> <li>Preparing complex journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and data analysis</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Ability to:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Insurance Statutory Accounting Principles</li> <li>Interpret of insurance and reinsurance contracts</li> <li>Analyze complex financial data, and problem solve</li> <li>Produce reports with a high level of accuracy and completeness</li> <li>Derive actionable conclusions from analyzing data and information</li> <li>Participate and contribute to project teams</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Knowledge and skills:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>High proficiency in Excel including pivot tables and macros as well as experience with Access</li> <li>Strong analytic, numerical, and statistical problem-solving skills</li> <li>Strong organizational skills</li> <li>Planning, organizing, and decision making, problem-solving</li> <li>Interpretation and compilation of data</li> <li>Detail-oriented</li> <li>Independent research skills</li> <li>Strong analytical and organizational skills</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Certified Public Accountant and/or Master&rsquo;s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting</li> <li>Experience with business intelligence software</li> <li>Data query/data management experience (data analytics tools/programming languages, R, Tableau, Python, SAS, SQL queries, etc.,)</li> <li>Financial reporting (e.g. financial statement preparation, review, and analysis)</li> <li>Experience in developing/implementing business simulation/models</li> <li>Experience in property and casualty insurance and/or reinsurance broker</li> <li>Insurance and/or reinsurance accounting or financial analysis</li> <li>Experience in statutory financial statement preparation</li> </ul> <br />Important Note: The above statements describe the principle and essential functions, but not all functions that may be inherent in the job.
