Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Create and execute a comprehensive Employee Relations and Safety operations plan that minimizes organizational risk and maximizes business performance;</li> <li>Partner and collaborate with NWC leaders on business strategies and challenges, provide HR guidance and input on decisions, and execute to enable these strategies;</li> <li>Support building the workforce capability and culture required to maintain business growth and change at an appropriate pace;</li> <li>Collaborate on the development, implementation and communication of relevant Employee Relations and Safety policies, procedures and systems which foster a culture of engagement and accountability;</li> <li>Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of Employee Relations and Safety matters;</li> <li>Monitor critical performance, absenteeism, safety, legal, disability, attrition, and other employee metrics and make data-driven recommendations;</li> <li>Develop retention strategies and monitor attrition for assigned groups;</li> <li>Provide interpretation of Employee Relations and Safety policies, practices and procedures to NWC leaders;</li> <li>Champion change through change management practices which enable effective implementation and sustainment of business initiatives;</li> <li>Develop and apply efficient and effective employee communication practices;</li> <li>Work closely with Vice President, Human Resources and other HR Directors to develop and execute an HR strategy and ensure organizational synergies are achieved through policy, procedure and program development;</li> <li>Keep well-informed of federal and provincial/territory employment and labour laws in order to be viewed as a trusted advisor to management, and work with the Vice President, Human Resources to ensure compliance with those laws; and</li> <li>Lead, assess and develop direct reports to provide value-added services to business partners through the delivery of the operations plan and HR strategy.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field;</li> <li>CPHR credential is preferred;</li> <li>Minimum 7+ years of direct experience in Employee Relations and employment law matters;</li> <li>Previous experience with Employee Health &amp; Safety, including knowledge of applicable laws and regulations;</li> <li>Experience in Retail or Logistics industries is preferred, and experience in a unionized environment considered an asset;</li> <li>3+ years of successful team management/leadership experience; ability to coach, develop and energize direct reports;</li> <li>In-depth knowledge of all current relevant federal and provincial/territory labor and employment laws accompanied by the drive to keep up-to-date and understand future legislation;</li> <li>Proven track record of formulating goals and objectives consistent with federal and provincial/territory guidelines;</li> <li>Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others, coupled with a strong service orientation, and the ability to operate within a business partnering model;</li> <li>Experience with managing and resolving conflict;</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills;</li> <li>Highly analytical thinker and problem solver, comfortable with business analytics, and the ability to provide data insights to support business plans;</li> <li>Sensitive to the local culture within a provincial/territory context;</li> <li>Strong project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to closure;</li> <li>Proactive and results-orientated with a strong desire to succeed;</li> <li>Strong HRIS and Microsoft Office computer skills;</li> <li>Willingness and ability to work outside of normal work hours, including weekend work as required; and</li> <li>Ability to travel nationally and internationally on an occasional basis. Travel is primarily during the business day, although some out of normal work hours and overnight travel may be expected.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;Essential Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>High integrity.
