Manager

Overview: In your role as the Senior Manager, Distribution at The North West Company (NWC); you will be accountable for inventory storage, rotation and selection practices at all NWC owned facilities and for ensuring that all contracted Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers adhere to NWC distribution specifications. The Senior Manager leads, coaches &amp; develops the distribution team and safeguards NWC people, facilities and equipment by ensuring that all asset management and health and safety policies are adhered and reported upon.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Accountable for operations at Winnipeg Logistics Service Centre (WLSC) and Crescent Multi-Foods (CMF), ensuring teams achieve performance targets and stay within government legislation and NWC policies;</li> <li>Ensure that all contracted third-party logistics providers deliver on agreed upon service level at prescribed costs;</li> <li>Manage inventory with a high level of accuracy;</li> <li>Attend customer service requests with professionalism and within the agreed upon service levels;</li> <li>Maintenance of the WLSC and CMF facilities and equipment;</li> <li>Act as NWC distribution expert by keeping abreast of distribution best practices, operational and technology advancements;</li> <li>Advisory role, providing cost/benefit estimates for business cases development;</li> <li>Accountable to work within a prescribed financial budget, making adjustments to labor scheduling as required;</li> <li>Possibility of travel from time to time to support projects and after-hours on-call support as required;</li> <li>Work with the Director of Logistics to build business cases to support capital requests;&nbsp;and</li> <li>Participate as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects and planning initiatives.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Experience working cross-functionally with category, order management, and operations teams and leading a distribution team of greater than 100 employees;</li> <li>Experience in slotting a warehouse for selection efficiencies and accuracy. Experience in retail distribution preferred;</li> <li>Aptitude for technology applications, specifically warehouse management systems is an asset;</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance a large group of diverse projects simultaneously;</li> <li>Excellent leadership, team building, and decision-making skills; Ability to resolve complex problems;</li> <li>Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills; and</li> <li>A strong grounding in financial reporting and analysis&nbsp;is an asset.</li> </ul>
