Overview: <p>As the Business Development Manager, at The North West Company (NWC), you provide research, analysis and advice related to the creation of both short range and medium-range general merchandise business strategies with a particular focus on E-commerce. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Assess profit potential on assigned merchandise categories or businesses;</li> <li>Complete or coordinate relevant research on assigned categories, including vendor, industry, and consumer;</li> <li>Lead and Manage more complex, medium and long-range business plans, from pilot and measurement phases through execution;</li> <li>Represent Vice-Presidents or GM Category Managers, on setting best practices across Procurement &amp; Marketing;</li> <li>Work on store, banner-specific or GM-related special projects;</li> <li>Build consensus and understanding throughout the organization on GM best practices and initiatives;</li> <li>Present on projects and initiatives to senior management.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Business degree or equivalent required, MBA is considered an asset;</li> <li>Five years or more of relevant work experience;</li> <li>Experience in E-commerce development and execution is required;</li> <li>Work experience within Project Management field is considered an asset;</li> <li>Experience working with executive level projects and people;</li> <li>Exceptional planning and analysis (market research, statistical, management accounting and financial) skill set;</li> <li>Category management, marketing or merchandising experience is required;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities and to create or play a key role in creating plans that are effectively executed;</li> <li>Demonstrated interest &amp; insight into retail industry and consumer.</li> <li>Travel as required.</li> </ul>
