Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Risk Manager is a key member of the second line of defence and will work with senior leaders and business partners, including IT and Security, Technology, Finance, Sales and Sales Operations, HR, and Professional Services. You will play a critical role on the Legal, Compliance and Risk (L|C|R) team, managing Valeyo's enterprise risk management (ERM) program, supporting compliance programs, and conducting comprehensive risk assessments for third parties.</p> <p>The role can be based out of Valeyo's Burnaby, BC, Winnipeg, MB, or Toronto, ON offices. Valeyo's current COVID-19 protocols require that most staff work remotely, and Valeyo also has a flexible workplace that includes remote work options.</p> <p><strong>Who you are</strong></p> <p>You are a risk management specialist working in-house, ideally at a technology company. Or you are part of an audit team in private practice, where you have been part of the risk management process from end-to-end. Either way, you are looking for the next step in your career at a growing, digital forward organization. You want to be a leader within the organization with policy and program work to be done while simultaneously working on due diligence for complex deals. You want to bring your experience researching and interpreting regulations and management to contribute to an effective ERM program. You have a growth mindset as you continually seek to learn more, and you can rapidly come up to speed on our business and technology. You can focus on the details and proactively identify risk, working with executives in a highly professional and confident manner; but, you also have a sense of humour and a candid approach that makes you a great team player.</p> <p><strong>What's in it for you</strong></p> <p><em><strong>Impact.</strong></em> No two days here are the same, and the pace of business is exciting, across our three major offerings (proprietary technology, partner solutions, and insurance). This is an exciting period of transformation, from a technical perspective as we expand our offerings while concurrently migrating our internal systems to the cloud. Your role will be crucial during this time, identifying and mitigating risk and exposure. In addition, you will actively and directly support our strategic priorities and work to meet (or exceed) the L|C|R the service level commitments.</p> <p><em><strong>Influence.</strong></em> There is a lot of new work to be done, including building an ERM awareness campaign and educating the teams to adopt an ownership approach to risk. You will endeavour to create trust within our organization, supporting the priorities of internal stakeholders and those of our partners and vendors. This is a chance to take on an influential role, identifying, treating, and preventing risk for a national technology and services firm.</p> <p><em><strong>Opportunity. </strong></em>Valeyo is building relationships with integration partners, referral partners, and insurance partners. You will work with vendors, executive leadership, gaining exposure across the organization. You will be mentored on relationship and people management as well as the technical aspects of your role. You will have the opportunity to research and implement best practices and emerging approaches to enterprise risk management, leading the way for our organization with your ideas and opinions.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>What you will do:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Leverage your experience to implement leading practices.</strong> You will support and continuously improve Valeyo's ERM program, frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with Valeyo's strategic goals and plans, as well as industry developments. You will stay up to date on and share knowledge of the latest ERM regulations, techniques, and practices.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate.</strong> You will work closely with senior leaders and business partners to identify and assess risks and review and assess controls, mitigation strategies, or improvement plans.</li> <li><strong>Investigate.</strong> You will provide guidance, assistance, and oversight on the identification, classification, and associated treatment and action items for risk events received from business units and departments.</li> <li><strong>Report.</strong> You will prepare reports for senior leaders on risks, controls, and treatment identified via the ERM program, including risk assessments, risk events, monitoring and testing, and oversight duties. You will maintain event data and events and issues information, including tracking action items.</li> <li><strong>Research.</strong> You will gather information from external and internal sources and identify appropriate emerging risk treatment strategies. You will review and update ERM program processes, procedures, and tools, including engaging stakeholders and communicating updates as necessary</li> <li><strong>Provide expertise.</strong> You will provide risk oversight, guidance, and advice in operational areas, particularly: information security; information technology; products and marketing; project management; third party management; and human resources. You will actively promote education and conduct training on ERM topics, particularly accountability of risk and control ownership at the business level and roles and responsibilities for the three lines of defense.</li> </ul>

In addition, you have completed relevant certifications, such as CIA, CISA, CPA, CRISC, CRM, GARP.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>The experience.</strong> You have a combination of training and experience in risk assessment and monitoring, ideally at the enterprise level.
