Overview: <p class="p1"><strong>Community Services</strong>- Senior Center Programmer</p> <p class="p2"><strong>Industry: </strong>Local Government</p> <p class="p1"><strong>Level: </strong>Entry Level-Full Time</p> <p class="p1"><strong>Starting Hourly Wage: </strong>$55,478.00</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Position Summary</strong></span></p> <p class="p2">Under the general supervision of the Director of Community Services, the Senior Center Programmer serves the Township as the administrator of services for all program oversight including identifying and procuring community resources and developing community partnerships.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>The employee works closely with the Director and his/her designee to implement a variety of programs that meet the educational, recreational and social needs of the center participants.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>Responsibilities extend to training; scheduling transportation services and supervises Senior Center Staff/Volunteers.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <p class="p1">An Employee in this position may be called upon to perform any of all of the following essential job functions, duties, and responsibilities. The following describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by as is not construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed in this position:</p> <ul class="ul1"> <li class="li1">Responsible for conducting program evaluations, strategic planning and developing process improvement on an ongoing basis.</li> <li class="li1">Responsible for the organization and management of all senior outings, classes and events. In addition, aiding all senior affairs including supportive outreach services, advise and any needed guidance offered by a variety of public service agencies.&nbsp;</li> <li class="li1">Coordinates daily nutritional services through Focus Hope, Meals on Wheels, TEFAP and liquid nutrition for the Seniors on the premises and homebound.</li> <li class="li1">Completes needs assessments and re-assessments of citizens and adjusts program schedules and content to respond to participant's requests for the needs of the center.</li> <li class="li1">Responsible for providing general supervision of facility participants and managing all of their concerns.</li> <li class="li1">Responsible for managing all volunteer activities for services/events such as Forgotten Harvest, Holiday functions, trips, senior nutrition,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>etc.</li> <li class="li1">Responsible for coordinating with the Director on promotions of programs through monthly and quarterly media/ publications, newsletters and social media as required.</li> <li class="li1">Maintains positive public relations and prepares correspondence in order to keep Township residents informed of the activities that are available.</li> <li class="li1">Meets with general members of the senior program, Endowment Committee, and other committees to evaluate the needs for a variety of recreation activities within the senior community.</li> <li class="li1">Assists in procurement, project tracking, customer contact, scheduling and returning calls.</li> <li class="li1">Assists in the preparation and presentation of<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>verbal and written reports to the Township Board, Commissions, governmental agencies and community groups as needed.</li> <li class="li1">Coordinates with the Recreation Programmer and all Community Services staff on program development and implementation as required by the Director and/or Deputy.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p class="p1">The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the position.</p> <ul class="ul1"> <li class="li4">Must possess a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent prior work experience.</li> <li class="li4">Must have organizational, interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to prepare report and financial data.</li> <li class="li4">Must have the ability to recruit volunteers and instructors for new creative and energetic recreation activities for participants.</li> <li class="li4">Must have some knowledge with willingness to learn various software (RecDesk.)</li> <li class="li4">Efficient in Microsoft office and Google Docs.</li> <li class="li4">Competence in basic mathematical calculations including algebra and geometry.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to use deductive reasoning and logic in job related problem solving and to deal with problems involving several variables.</li> <li class="li4">Skill in communicating verbally and in writing and interacting with customers in a professional and ethical manner.</li> <li class="li4">Must maintain compliance with Township Employee Manual, Township Ethics Policy, Township Policies Manual, Collective Bargaining Agreement, and all other policies as adopted.</li> <li class="li4">Must be reliable, demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and work cooperatively as part of a team.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors and the general public.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to use various job-related modern electronic office equipment.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to perform job duties and complete assignments with minimal need for direct supervision.</li> <li class="li4">Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors and the general public.</li> <li class="li4">Must have the ability to attend and prepare for after-hours meetings and events as needed by the Director and/or Deputy.</li> <li class="li4">Must be willing to work evenings, and/or weekends to accommodate the needs of the Township.</li> </ul> <p class="p11"><span class="s1"><strong>Physical Abilities and Work Environment<br /></strong></span>The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
